Wednesday Night TV

While Wednesday is not known for being the best night in TV there are still plenty of great choices for Wednesday night! Wednesday night seems to be best on ABC and Fox!

ABC

Hank (8:00 – 8:30 PM): Hank is about a corporate tycoon who is forced out of his job when his company downsizes. The show focuses on how Hank has to adjust to life spending more time with his family rather than working! The show is quite amusing and touches base with a lot of real families who have been through the same situation; although hopefully not with as much comedy.

Modern Family (9:00 – 9:30 PM): Modern FamilyModern Family is a hysterical new television show from ABC. It was hilarious from the premier and that same raw and entertaining reality continues through the present. The show focuses on the life of a very mixed up family. Add one part family, two parts gay, one part interracial relationship and a whole lot of craziness and the result is ABC’s new hit Modern Family. Modern Family draws its comedy from the differences and the interaction of the family and is truly a show that anyone can enjoy.

NBC

Mercy (8:00 – 9:00 PM) – NBC’s new series Mercy focuses on the professional lives and friendship of three nurses. The idea of the show isn’t half bad but the results are less than satisfactory. Fans of series such as Scrubs will find that Mercy does not provide that same element of comedy in the hospital setting but much more of a drama based feel. Fans of the Drama scene may enjoy Mercy and find that it has something new and fresh to offer.

Jay Leno Show (10:00 – 11:00 PM) – The Jay Leno show is hilarious and NBC’s strongest offering for Wednesday Night. Fans of satirical and situational comedy will be thrilled with the amusing viewpoints and comments that come from Jay Leno. In the style of classic late night comedy television Jay Leno brings a new flare to Wednesday Nights; be sure to catch Jay Leno before you go to sleep Wednesday Nights.

CBS

Gary Unmarried (8:30 – 9:00 PM) – Gary Unmarried is a down to earth comedy focusing on the life of Gary; a divorced guy who has to juggle his ex-wife, his kids and a spicy new romance. The show draws its humor from just how difficult it can be to start a new romance in the midst of raising children and getting the ex out of the picture.

CSI: NY (10:00 – 11:00 PM) – Fans of the CSI series either hate of love CSI: NY. Newcomers will have to make that decision as well. CSI: NY much like its original counter-part CSI focuses on a team of Crime Scene Investigators who have to reverse engineer every crime scene to find out what happened, how it happened and who was responsible! They almost always capture the criminal and there is a whole lot of great technology and science mixed in; even a little drama!

Whats on Friday Night TV?

Friday nights, for me, is definitely all about ABC. I love all of the shows in the line-up. But for those of you with different tastes I will also list the shows available on the other networks:

NBC Network

Who Do You Think You Are?: is an American genealogy documentary series which premiered on NBC on March 5, 2010. The show is an adaptation of the British series of the same name, which was created and produced by Alex Graham. Each week a celebrity goes on a journey to trace his/her family tree. The series is executive produced by Lisa Kudrow, and marks a partnership between NBC Entertainment and Ancestry.com.
A few of the celebrities that have been on the show this season are Sarah Jessica Parker, Emmitt Smith, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Broderick, Brooke Shields, Susan Sarandon, Spike Lee.

Dateline NBC: is a U.S. weekly television newsmagazine broadcast by NBC. It is similar in format to other television newsmagazines ABC’s 20/20 and CBS’s 60 Minutes. Much like other newsmagazines, Dateline programming includes investigative journalism, true crime, and human interest stories. Common segments feature Dateline: Survivor, where a person talks about their near death experience and rescue; Dateline Timeline, where a popular product, person, and music single are played and viewers are invited to guess what year it appeared in; State of the Art, explaining how something was technically accomplished in a movie; Consumer Alert, where common consumer complaints or issues, such as food safety, are investigated, and Newsmakers, light interviews of major figures in politics, entertainment, and business, as well as regular people in the news. The Saturday night edition of Dateline features special emphasis on true crime stories programming, which has been named Dateline Saturday Night and includes the “To Catch a Predator” series. NBC News specials also air under the Dateline banner.

CBS Network

Friday night televisionGhost Whisperer: is an American supernatural show, which premiered on CBS on September 23, 2005. The series follows the life of Melinda Gordon (Jennifer Love Hewitt), who has the ability to see and communicate with ghosts. While trying to live as normal a life as possible, Melinda helps them cross over into the light to the other side by working as an owner of an antique store, sometimes dealing with people who push her away, and disbelieve her ability.

Medium: is an American supernatural and dramatic television series which premiered on NBC on January 3, 2005. Its focus is Allison DuBois (Patricia Arquette), who acts as a research medium for the Phoenix, Arizona district attorney’s office. The lead character is a wife to loving husband, Joe, and the mother of three daughters who all inherited her gift, apparently passed from generation to generation. The original premise of the show was based on reported experiences from self-proclaimed spiritual medium Allison DuBois, who claims to have worked with law enforcement agencies across the country in criminal investigations.

Miami Medical: is about a team of expert surgeons who thrive on the adrenaline rush of working at one of the premiere trauma facilities in the country while drawing upon their wit and irreverence to survive on the edge. As part of the Alpha Team at one of the top trauma hospitals, these professionals exclusively treat patients with life-threatening injuries. Dr. Matthew Proctor is new to the trauma team after leaving a lucrative private practice following his return from a tour of duty in a MASH unit during the first Gulf War. Dr. Eva Zambrano is a workaholic surgeon who wishes she had more time for a personal life. Dr. Christopher Deleo, “Dr. C.,” is a playboy who thrives on the high-stakes of trauma medicine and is, by his own description, a genius cowboy. Dr. Serena Warren is fresh out of medical school and is quickly learning the meaning of “trial by fire.” The glue that keeps the team together is head nurse Tuck Brody, who balances the needs of the doctors and their patients’ families in this chaotic corner of the medical profession. Together, this team of doctors excels in the “golden hour,” the 60 minutes after being critically injured when a patient’s life hangs in the balance.

ABC Network

Wife Swap: Two families, usually from vastly different social classes and lifestyles, swap wives/mothers (and sometimes husbands) for two weeks. In fact, the programme will usually deliberately swap wives with extreme, polar opposite lifestyles, such as a dramatically messy wife swapping with a fastidiously neat one. Despite using a phrase from the swinging lifestyle, couples participating in the show do not share a bed with the “swapped” spouse while “swapping” homes.

During the first week, the new wife must adhere to exactly the same rules and lifestyle of the wife she is replacing. Each wife leaves a house manual which explains her role in the family and the duties she holds. This almost always determines what rules the wives will apply at the “rules change ceremony”.

During the second week, the new wives are allowed to establish their own rules, and their new families must adhere to these new household rules. It usually takes a while for the families to adjust to this policy, meanwhile the wives disperse a sum of money to the family they have become immersed in, to do what the wives see fit to spend it on.

20/20: is an American “television newsmagazine”, (similar in depth to a “print newsmagazine”), broadcast on ABC since June 6, 1978. Created by ABC News executive Roone Arledge, the show was designed similarly to CBS’s 60 Minutes but focuses more on human interest stories than international and political subjects.

FOX Network

House MD: Dr. House often clashes with his boss, hospital administrator and Dean of Medicine Dr. Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein), and his diagnostic team, because many of his hypotheses about patients’ illnesses are based on subtle or controversial insights. House’s only true friend is Dr. James Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard), head of the Department of Oncology. During the first three seasons, House’s diagnostic team consists of Dr. Robert Chase (Jesse Spencer), Dr. Allison Cameron (Jennifer Morrison), and Dr. Eric Foreman (Omar Epps). At the end of the third season, this team disbands. Rejoined by Foreman, House gradually selects three new team members: Dr. Remy “Thirteen” Hadley (Olivia Wilde), Dr. Chris Taub (Peter Jacobson), and Dr. Lawrence Kutner (Kal Penn); the latter was written out of the series toward the end of season five. Chase and Cameron continue to appear in different roles at the hospital until early in season six. Cameron then leaves the show, and Chase returns to the diagnostic team.

CW Network

Smallville: is an American television series developed by writers/producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, based on the DC Comics character Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The television series was initially broadcast by The WB, premiering on October 16, 2001. After its fifth season, The WB and UPN merged to form The CW, which is the current broadcaster for the show in the United States. The longest-running comic book based series in television history, Smallville began its ninth season on September 25, 2009, and was renewed for a tenth season on March 4, 2010. The series follows the adventures of Clark Kent (Tom Welling), who resides in the fictional town of Smallville, Kansas, during the years before he becomes Superman. The first four seasons focused on Clark and his friends’ high school years. Since season five, the show has ventured into more adult settings, eventually focusing on his career at the Daily Planet, as well as introducing other DC comic book superheroes and villains.

America’s Next Top Model: is a reality television show in which a number of women compete for the title of America’s Next Top Model and a chance to start their career in the modeling industry. The show was created and is hosted by talk-show host and model Tyra Banks, who also serves as the head judge and executive producer of the show.

Disney

Wizards of Waverly Place: Set on Waverly Place in Manhattan, New York’s Greenwich Village neighborhood, Wizards of Waverly Place centers on the Russo family, which includes Alex (Selena Gomez), her younger brother Max (Jake T. Austin) and their older brother Justin (David Henrie). The three Russo siblings are wizards in training and live with their Italian-American father Jerry (David DeLuise), a former wizard, and their Mexican-American mother, Theresa (Maria Canals Barrera) who is a mortal. Alex’s best friend Harper (Jennifer Stone) also found out about the Russos’ wizard powers in season 2. The siblings have to keep their secret safe while living in the mortal world. When they become adults, the three siblings will have a wizard competition to decide who will become the family wizard of their generation and keep their powers forever. The magical world tends to be very eccentric and surreal.

HBO

Ricky Gervais Show: is a comedy audio show in the UK starring Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, and Karl Pilkington, later adapted into an animated televised version debuting for HBO and Channel 4 in 2010. The show started in November 2001 on Xfm, and aired in weekly periods for months at a time throughout 2002, 2003, 2004, and mid-2005. In November 2005, Guardian Unlimited offered the show as a podcast series of 12 shows. Throughout January and February 2006, the podcast was consistently ranked the number one podcast in the world; it appeared in the 2007 Guinness World Record for the world’s most downloaded podcast, having gained an average of 261,670 downloads per episode during its first month. According to the BBC, by September 2006, the podcasts of the series had been downloaded “nearly 8 million” times.

The series was created by Steve Dildarian, and is about a hapless man in his mid 20s named Tim (Dildarian) who lives in New York City with his girlfriend Amy. Throughout the series, Tim constantly finds himself in increasingly awkward situations in both his work and personal life. The first season aired in 2008 and has since been aired in numerous countries, and has developed something of a cult following. The second season debuted on February 19, 2010 on HBO.

Reasons Why You Should NOT Buy a Plasma Television

The Superbowl draws near and you want to see the big game in high definition television (HDTV) but you’re unsure about which type of HDTV television you should buy? If you open up your local consumer electronics flyer, the choice is clear – Plasma.

Here’s 5 Reasons Not to Buy a Plasma TV this Superbowl Season.

The purpose of the article was to provide a counterpoint to some of the misinformation being advertised prior to the Superbowl by various retailers and was not a blanket condemnation of Plasma televisions.

For reasons why you should buy a Plasma check out our May 2005 article entitled – Five Reasons to make your next HDTV a Plasma

Plasma televisions are sleek, sexy and can hang on a wall. In addition to a slim space saving design, Plasma’s offer a wide viewing angle, uniform screen brightness and good colour fidelity. What’s not to love?

Plasma televisions are flat-panel displays that consist of millions of phosphor-coated miniature glass bubbles containing plasma. Each bubble represents one pixel. To produce an image on the plasma panel, electric current flows through the screen which causes the gas inside the glass bubbles to emit ultraviolet rays. The ultraviolet rays then trigger the phosphor coating to produce red, green or blue light.

The number of physical bubbles or pixels inside a plasma television determines the sets Native resolution. DHC recommends you determine the native resolution of any plasma you’re thinking about purchasing. Native resolution is important because it is the source of a tremendous amount of confusion in the minds of consumers which leads to a very common misperception.

The common misperception is that all Plasma televisions are high definition televisions. Instead of being HDTV sets, many plasma sets are Enhanced Definition television (EDTV). If the native resolution of the plasma you are considering is 853 X 480 or something similar then the plasma panel is NOT a high definition television.

Digital Home Canada has learned that many websites and retail flyers are no longer publishing the native resolution of plasma panels preferring to simply say the set has 720p or 1080i capability.

For more information about the different types of HDTV televisions available in the marketplace be sure to read HDTV Canada – Types of Televisions Explained . To learn more about HDTV visit the HDTV Canada section of this site. or visit one of Digital Home Canada’s HDTV forums in the Digital Forums.
Five Reasons not to buy Plasma
The following are five reasons why Digital Home Canada believes you shouldn’t buy a Plasma television.

Burn In
Burn in occurs when a static image, such as a network icon, is continuously shown and the image is “burned into” the screen. The result is that “burned in” image is visible even when watching other programs.

The actual term burn in is a misnomer (to find out more burn in – click on some of the links listed above) since the screen isn’t actually burned but the unpleasant image left of your screen is all too real.

The effects of burn in on a plasma display are permanent and cannot be erased.

The article and plasma manufacturers go to great lengths to explain how to reduce the likelihood of burn and with proper care and attention DHC agrees that a very determined and careful consumer can avoid the problem.

Although we understand that burn in can be avoided if you are very careful, our attitude is “Do you want really want to buy a $5,000 to $10,000 television set and then constantly worry that it will become an expensive doorstop, because you or your kids, left it on for a few hours on the “wrong” channel ?”

When spending $10,000, we want piece of mind. The risk of burn in is the first reason we would not recommend buying a plasma television.

Too Expensive
True HDTV Plasma’s starts around $6,000 Canadian and go up from there. Many 50″ plasma’s are close to $10,000.

An excellent quality 50″ CRT rear projection television can be had for $2,000, while DLP & LCD projection sets retails for approximately $4,000.

With the extra $6,000 to $8,000 dollars you save by not buying plasma, you could outfit your home with a stunning home theatre system which includes six good quality speakers, DVD player, A/V receiver and more.

The high cost of plasma is the second reason why we would not buy a plasma television.
Costly to Repair and Higher Incidence of Repair
Recently when Digital Home Canada was researching our article Should I buy the Extended Warranty? we were surprised to learn the price for an 2 or 3 year extended warranty on a plasma television was much higher than the cost of a 2 or 3 year warranty on a direct view, LCD, CRT or DLP television after adjusting for the purchase price of the product.

Extended warranty costs are an excellent way to gauge the reliability of a consumer product. If the premiums being asked by the insurance companies are higher, then it indicates the product has a higher rate of repair and failure.

Also noteworthy is that despite the high cost of extended warranties on plasma, burn in is not covered by either the manufacturer’s warranty or an extended warranty. Burn in is considered to consumer misuse and therefore not covered.

The high cost of repair, potential for failure and the lack of a comprehensive warranty is the third reason why we would not buy a plasma television.
Standard Definition Television looks terrible
The next time you are shopping for a television, be sure to take notice of what’s playing on those Plasma panels. We can pretty much guarantee, you won’t see a regular standard definition cable signal.

In our experience, HDTV looks beautiful on a true HDTV plasma panel and DVD’s can almost equally compelling, however, standard television, the stuff you watch everyday, generally looks horrible!

The reason for this poor quality image can be attributable to a number of factors including the stretch mode of the television or the poor quality of the analog or digital signal.

Regardless of the reason, Digital Home Canada we have yet to view a standard definition television program on plasma that we would want to watch in our home.

Despite our opinion, DHC learned long ago that picture quality is a very subjective matter. What looks great to one person can look lousy to someone else.

We recommend that if you’re considering buying a plasma, take the time to watch “regular” television on it before you purchase the set or only use your plasma to watch DVD’s or HDTV.

The poor picture quality of Standard definition signals is the fourth reason why we would not buy a plasma television.

Costly and Time Consuming to Mount on a wall
Since the first Phillips commercial in 2001 showing consumers how they could mount a plasma television on the wall, people have dreamt of hanging their televisions on the wall.

Like every dream, get over it!

The reality is that most plasma sets are never hung on walls. Typically they sit on a tabletop on a stand. A stand, that is as deep and wide as an DLP or LCD projection television set.

Why don’t plasma owners have the set up on the wall?

The primary reason is the wires. A typical plasma set has a ton of connections. component or DVI cables from your cable or satellite receiver, component or DVI cables from your DVD player, other audio cables to and from your A/V receivers, and of course the power cable.

The wires can be neatly tucked and hidden behind the set when it sits on a stand. In our opinion, placing a plasma on a tabletop defeats one of the major reasons people buy the set in the first place.

Finally, if you want to mount the plasma panel on the wall and still have it look attractive, you need to fish cables through your walls. Fishing cables means drilling holes and feeding wires which can be messy, costly and time consuming.

The huge effort and high cost of properly mounting a plasma to a wall is the fifth reason why we would not buy a plasma television.
An Extra Reason – It’s not HDTV! (most times)
Our last and potentially sixth reason for not buying a plasma is that often the plasma set is not a high definition television.

It is true that many plasma models offer a native resolution which allows owners to watch true HDTV, however, the problem is the majority of units sold are EDTV sets marketed as being HDTV capable.

Many angry plasma owners and ex-owners have told us they felt deceived when they found out that their EDTV set wasn’t an HDTV television.

Until the manufacturers and sellers of these products clearly articulate this information and stop selling them as HDTV capable, we believe it is a significant disadvantage when buying one of these televisions.

22 Reasons Why The SciFi Channel’s Ghost Hunter Is More Believable Than Travel Channel’s Most Haunted

I seem to be very entertained by paranormal investigative shows like the SciFi channel’s Ghost Hunters and Travel Channel’s Most Haunted. I take a lot of heat around my house for even entertaining the notion that either of these shows aren’t completely fake.

I can understand that view of Travel Channel’s Most Haunted, I watch that show more for the entertainment value of seeing people getting scared in the dark. For some reason, that makes me chuckle. But I have a different view of the SciFi channel’s Ghost Hunter.

Although both of these shows are based around paranormal investigation, they take two very different approaches to it. I guess you could say that one takes a skeptical approach and they other, well the other takes an approach that is…fake.

I have been watching every episode of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia Season Three and by far the funniest episode yet is: Sweet Dee’s Dating A Retarded Person.

Questions I Have About 24 This Season

Who watched the Golden Globes over the premiere of 24 last night? Jack Bauer kicks any one of those actor’s ass no matter what night he’s on. Few outside of the 24 set know the exact details of the new season unfolding, but studio sources claim producers are pushing hard to take it radioactive this time and keep it there.

“Time to wake the country up!” a top FOX source told the DRUDGE REPORT over the weekend. “I do not think there has ever been TV done like this, the viewer is going to be completely riveted.”

The source claims executives are prepared for any fallout from local municipalities that may be on the receiving end of plot turns and twists. How many cities 24 puts on ‘nuke alert’ is unclear. 8)

Here’s a few questions about the show 24 I and other people might have:

Q. In the first two episodes of 24, we see graphic depictions of torture and violence, including Jack Bauer killing his captor by biting his neck. Is this too much for prime time?

A. Given what’s on prime-time television these days, I can’t say it’s any worse than anything else. I have two kids, 16 and 13. For us, 24 has been a family event for years.

Q. The dean of West Point told the executive producer of 24 that the show does influence some of its interrogators. Should 24 be reined in?

A. It’s fiction. If there’s anybody who looks at a piece of fiction as an influence on real life, that’s not the show’s fault.

Q. Starting next week, 24 will be opposite NBC’s hit Heroes. Is this a problem?

A. No. There’s nothing else on Monday nights that I want to watch.

Q. Chloe O’Brian has a softer look this season. Is that a mistake?

A. I think she really grew as a person when she took that machine gun and shot up a car [in season four]. Hopefully she’s still got that in her.

Q. Jack Bauer seems to sacrifice everything for his country without much appreciation. What does Jack deserve by season’s end?

A. Whatever that guy in New York [Wesley Autrey] gets for jumping on the guy on the train tracks, Jack Bauer should get at least that.

Barney Stinson From How I Met Your Mother has a Blog

If you are familiar with Barney from the show How I Met Your Mother, then you are a fan of Barney. To know him is to love him. Well if a weekly dose of Barney’s words of wisdom is not enough for you, I thought you should be aware that Barney Stinson has a blog.

Located on the www.cbs.com site, this blog is filled with Barney-isms. His blog dates back to 2005 and all of the past blog entries are archived. Today’s blog for instance is about “popping your big apple”. It is Barney’s guide for first timers to New York and it is very informative. He even gives tips on visiting the United Nations stating you should first “wrap yourself in your nation’s flag” and also states not to worry about a language barrier because “the language of love is universal”. Great stuff! Barney Stinson how i met your mother
Barney’s daily poll is another great feature of this blog. Today’s question: If you lost a slap bet which would you rather receive? The choices: 10 slaps administered immediately or 5 slaps, redeemable throughout eternity? I went with the 10 slaps immediately, that’s just the kind of person I am.

Alarm Clock Catastrophe Dunkin Donuts Commercial

I’m having an alarm clock catastrophe this morning for sure. OK so I woke this morning too late to go to the gym but early enough so I could do my errands this morning and get to work on time. So I slept in a bit after hitting snooze on my alarm. Which I never do. After all I have it’s so serene to lay in bed after you pimp my bedroom.

When I realized that I slept through the alarm and propped my head out from under the covers and tried to clear my eyes to look at the alarm clock.

8:33am!!

I’m late for work.

When I launched my ass out of bed and practically jumped into the shower with my clothes still on I could hear the Dunkin Donuts commercial playing on the TV, Alarm Clock Catastrophe. It made me laugh and I thought I’m not the only one going through this today so relax. hahaha

Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin Killed

Steve Irwin, the hugely popular Australian television personality and environmentalist known as the “Crocodile Hunter,” was killed today by a stingray during a diving expedition, police said.

He was 44.

Steve Irwin was filming an underwater documentary on the Great Barrier Reef in northeastern Queensland state when the accident occurred, Sydney’s The Daily Telegraph newspaper reported on its Web site.

The Australian Broadcasting Corp. said Irwin was diving near Low Isles Reef near the resort town of Port Douglas, about 1,260 miles north of the state capital of Brisbane where he was stung by a stingray and couldn’t receive help in time.

Steve Irwin was hit by a stingray in the chest,” said local diving operator Steve Edmondson, whose Poseidon boats were out on the Great Barrier Reef when the accident occurred.

“He probably died from a cardiac arrest from the injury,” he said.

Police and ambulance officials later confirmed Irwin had died and said his family had been advised.

Irwin, 44, was killed while filming an underwater documentary off Port Douglas.

Irwin had been diving off his boat “Croc One” near Batt Reef northeast of Port Douglas. A helicopter had taken paramedics to nearby Low Isles where Irwin was taken for medical treatment but he was dead before they arrived, police said.

Irwin won a global following for his dare-devil antics but also triggered outrage in 2004 by holding his then one-month-old baby while feeding a snapping crocodile at his Australian zoo.

He made almost 50 of his “Crocodile Hunter” documentaries which appeared on cable TV channel Animal Planet and won a worldwide audience.

The series ended after he was criticized for the incident with his young son and for disturbing whales, seals and penguins while filming in Antarctica.

Khaki-clad Irwin became famous for his seemingly death-defying methods with wild animals, including crocodiles and snakes.

What’s Up with Six and MTV 6000

That was crazy. MTV6000 crashed. Some dude ran up on stage as Jenifer Lopez was announcing the Viewer’s Choice Award at MTV’s Video Music Awards. This dude runs up on stage and snags the mic from one of the Panic! At The Disco singer.

Announces his website and they catches a beat down.

Just watching the MTV awards… And when Panic at the Disco received the Viewers Choice award, some dude jumped up on stage, grabbed the microphone and said: “MTV never gave me my own show, check out mtv6000.com.” And then what looked like security jumped on stage and grabbed him. The band, Jennifer Lopez and the crowed looked surprised. Jack Black even said “not cool.”

I don’t particularly love Panic! At The Disco. They’re good-looking makeup wearing young boys, AND stayed sober long enough to at least accept their award.

But hey what was up with that weird guy plugging MTV6000.com? You weird award-show-crasher guy. He’s probably related to the Soy Bomb streaker dancer guy who crashed Bob Dylan at the Grammys.

Nick King I hope you don’t get in trouble.

Danny DeVito’s New Role It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia

Danny DeVito came across “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” last year when John Landgraf, FX president and general manager, and a longtime associate of DeVito’s, sent the actor copies of the show.

As Louie De Palma on the TV comedy “Taxi,” Danny DeVito embodied the guy audiences loved to hate a crude, obnoxious boss who would torment his employees at the Sunshine Cab Co. with sadistic glee.

Some 23 years since “Taxi’s” curtain call, DeVito, 61, returns this week as a TV-series regular, playing another loathsome-yet-lovable role on the second-season premiere of the FX comedy “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” Thursday, 10 p.m. EDT.

Just how bad is his character on the show, Frank Reynolds, compared to Louie? Don’t ask DeVito.

“I don’t think Louie was a creep. And I think Frank is a really honorable man,” the actor deadpans before busting into a laugh that says “gotcha.”

Apart from a memorable cameo on “Friends” doing a striptease, or appearances on “Saturday Night Live,” since “Taxi” DeVito has stayed away from regular TV series work and concentrated on movies acting, directing and producing. Continue reading
