FTTP coming from Verizon

For years, the major telecos were all promises when it came to Fiber To The Premises (FTTP). Now it looks like Verizon is finally taking the bull by the horns. It has only been three months since Verizon announced details of their Fios FTTP service for parts of Texas, California and Florida, and now they are expanding service to parts of Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Pennsylvania.

Basically it’s 30 Mbps down and 2 Mbps up.

Maximum connection speeds and pricing for Fios consumer services are:

  • 5 Mbps/2 Mbps for $34.95 a month as part of a calling package, or $39.95 a month
  • 15 Mbps/2 Mbps for $44.95 a month as part of a calling package, or $49.95 a month stand-alone
  • 30 Mbps/5 Mbps at pricing to be announced later

FTTP will be cool!!

Damn why so long? Strange to think that Long Island is wired yet. I’ve had Broadband in Dracut since I’ve lived at my mother’s house. Maybe 1998.
