Gold Star Family License Plates Thanks to The Boules
Leo and Sue Boule of Dracut are among the first families in Massachusetts to receive “Gold Star Family” license plates from the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
Their son Matthew Boule was the first Massachusetts resident to die in the Iraq conflict. He was killed in the crash of a Black Hawk helicopter in April 2003. He gave his life fighting for the freedom we in America have today.
Governor Romney presented the Boules with the license plate at a Statehouse ceremony today. The governor called it a “fitting way to recognize the families of those who have given everything to protect out freedom.”
The Boules worked with the registry and local lawmakers to create the special license plates.
This week, a special license plate honoring soldiers killed in action will be made available to those soldiers’ families. Also this week, a survey showed 14 percent of consumers have been victims of identity theft, and a $200 million bill to support affordable housing programs was approved.

Many Red Sox fans proudly display their support for the team by placing a team license plate on their cars.
The same goes for environmentalists who support their cause through the right whale plates.
And now, parents, spouses and children of soldiers killed in action while serving in the U.S. armed forces will have an opportunity to express the pride they have in family members who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Thanks to Sue Boule, of Dracut, the Registry of Motor Vehicles is now offering a Gold Star Family plate. Boule’s son, Matthew Boule, 22, became the first Massachusetts casualty in Iraq, when his Black Hawk helicopter crashed near the city of Karbala in April 2003.
Boule will join Gov. Mitt Romney, RMV officials and Rep. Colleen Garry, D-Dracut, at an event Friday, July 15 to announce the availability of the plate. Boule will receive her plate then and promptly affix it to her son’s Ford Ranger truck the truck he left to his mother.

Gold star family plates are only for parents, spouses, and children of the deceased but not for the brothers and sisters of the family. This is bullshit. My younger brother who gave his life in Iraq does not make me eligible for the plate. Didn’t I suffer the loss as well as my other brother and sister? Plates should be eligile for the family not just the parents, spouses and children of the deceased why the hell call it gold star “family” plate if the whole family is not eligible for it, only select members.

Of course they are, After I emailed half of the Massachusetts House asking for support of this updated bill back in October through December of 08. Might i also add that quite a few of the representatives added that because I wasn’t in their district that they weren’t too helpful but Barbara Miranda and Rep. Brownsburger were very top notch in assisting me with information to this cause.
