Our House Renovating Update
OK so here’s the latest on the house:
The roof was completed a month ago. Most of the roof trusses were replaced because they just were snapped in half or badly damaged. Plywood was added on top and some nice brown architectural shingles capped off the new roof. Still need to get the gutters installed in the front and back of the house but atleast it’s water tight.
Next was the new boiler and hot water heater. Not cheap! We spent some of our money to get a nice combo unit that feeds the water heater with water from the boiler. It’s a high efficient boiler from Weil McLain. Then all the pipng was replaced in house because most of it was damaged from the tree ripping through the roof and some of it was damaged from ruptured pipes after freezing. What a mess.
Now we’ve had the drywall installed and taped in all the rooms that needed repairing. Most walls are sanded and primed already and waiting paint. We’re getting the bathroom and ceiling painted first to make it easier because it sucks painting around the bathroom fixtures.
Still have to get the bathroom floors and shower walls tiled. The wall tiles were back ordered 2 additional weeks. We’re living here with no bathroom and shower. Basically no running water anywhere accept a faucet outside for the hose. YEA tell me about it. Someone order me a port-a-potty.
Update: The port-a-pottie was delivered. No one come by and tip it over first thing in the morning when I’m in there!!
Still to do is repair the foundation of the cracks. We gotta do this fast because any more rain filling up my basement and I’m going to freak. Lastly, one big major cleaning of the whole house. There’s so much dust and sheetrock debris everywhere.
