How to remove house arrest bracelet in just a few easy steps.
If you want to remove a house arrest bracelet then there are a few things to consider first. Removing it is an offense that breaks your parole and will easily put you back in prison. Things gotta be pretty desperate if you’re reading this and need to remove that anklet. So here’s a few questions I ask a guy I know who’s currently doing 90 days (as of writing this):
Here’s a Q and A on house arrest bracelets
Q: What is House Arrest?
A: House Arrest limits an offender’s movement within the community through electronic monitoring. House Arrest encompasses a philosophy of home detention, and strict accountability for any movement of the offender within the community, as approved by the Court or House Arrest office. House Arrest is used in lieu of incarceration in a State prison or County jail.
Q: Have you ever taken your house arrest anklet off? and how?
A: haha Well since you’re not using my name here, I have been able to remove it to go swimming. I was told by my P.O. not to get it wet. I believed him but he’s a dick anyways and is probably lying to me. So what I did was slide under it a steel rod about 2 feet long. Then I twisted it until the rivets or button things popped off. I totally panicked when I saw that but at least it was off. I then had someone goto a tailor and get the same kind of leather rivets and reinserted them.
Q: Who can be on House Arrest?
A: Any individual who is either pre or post conviction may be supervised by electronic monitoring, through legal assignment of a Court or Probation / Parole Officer. Cases supervised include offenders from the District Court, various municipalities, as a condition of bond, per the written directive of a Probation or Parole Officer, and via the Conditional Release program of the Johnson County Residential Center.
Q: How long does House Arrest last?
A: The length of House Arrest supervision is determined by the sentencing Court or entity. Sentences range from one day to an indefinite period. Typical terms of House Arrest supervision range from 30 to 90 days in length.
Q: What equipment is used to electronically monitor an offender?
Monitoring Equipment A: House Arrest utilizes electronic monitoring equipment (see image on right), installed in an offender’s residence, to verify each offender’s compliance. This equipment is used via phone lines, and serves several functions. Random computer generated phone calls to the offender’s residence provides the House Arrest department with a photographic response, a voice response, and a breath sample to ensure the offender is not using / abusing alcohol. The photographic response is recorded, verifying the offender is in their residence, as scheduled.
Q: Do offenders have equipment strapped to their body?
A: In some circumstances offenders are required to wear a tamper proof ankle bracelet, which electronically communicates with their home monitoring unit. This ankle bracelet notifies House Arrest any time the offender exits without authorization, and continuously confirms the offender’s presence within the residence. Ankle bracelets are utilized to strictly reduce offender movement, in conjunction with the photographic, voice, and breath response.
Q: What activities are offenders on House Arrest allowed to do?
A: Dependant upon Court orders, some offenders are strictly restricted to their residence, while others are allowed to maintain employment and approved activities. These activities would include educational programming, probation and parole meetings, drug testing, substance abuse and mental health treatment, and religious services. All movement must be scheduled and approved in advance, by the assigned House Arrest Officer.
Q: How is schedule compliance verified?
A: Each offender must meet weekly with their assigned House Arrest Officer to create a written schedule of movement for the week. Upon each weekly meeting, the offender must provide proof of their compliance via pay stubs, work schedules, receipts, verification cards, etc. House Arrest Officers maintain a high level of contact with offender employers and treatment providers to verify compliance, and complete random community compliance checks on each offender, at their residence or place of employment.
Q: What happens when someone violates his or her House Arrest?
A: When an offender can not be located, a four-hour non-compliance procedure is initiated. During this four-hour period many steps are taken to locate the offender, including a residence check by local law enforcement, manual calls to the offender’s residence and employment, and contact of the offenders listed emergency contact. If the client can not be located that offender is declared Absent Without Leave (AWOL). In all District Court cases, a warrant request is immediately completed, and filed with the Sheriff’s Department. With Municipal and Parole offenders, the referring Municipality or Parole Officer is notified immediately, and those individual entities initiate their revocation proceedings When violations occur and the offender’s whereabouts are known, a wide variety of sanctions can be imposed, up to and including the arrest and detention of the offender.
Q: Are offenders under House Arrest supervision tested for drug use?
A: Yes I have. Each offender receives a breath analysis each time the monitoring equipment contacts them at their residence. Each offender is also required to submit to frequent and random urinalyses testing, to ensure they are maintaining a drug free lifestyle. Drug testing is increased in cases of noncompliance, upon behavioral concerns, or when reasonable belief exists that the offender is possible using illegal drugs.
Q: What does House Arrest cost?
A: The cost of House Arrest supervision is incurred by the offender. Each offender is required to pay a daily monitoring fee of $12. Increase fees apply for individuals living outside the local calling area. Each offender is also required to pay for frequent random drug testing.
removing house arrest ankle bracelet (1) sentinel dual trak ankle bracelet (1)

seriously, 90 days and your complaining, im 8 months in to a 2 year sentence and dont get released til april 2011. like the guy posted earlier good luck trying to get around it. it will bite you in the ass in the long run
i just got an ankle bracelet its one of the new ones that dont come with a home system its just the bracelet. can anyone give me any tips on how to remove it ive looked every where but im at a lost please help
you well just end up getting caught dude… just wait it out its not so bad… ive been on it since july 6th and im done next month on the 31st. Definitely counting the days left
dude..if you think its not monitored yer wrong..no home system prolly means gps…or it tracks yer movements via sat..or many things…..whats the name brand and model number? i will give you some insight as they watch ya bro..even more so i learned with the short timers!!!…goodluck….
p.s. if it helps when i was getting it on i saw a tiny little screw driver laying next to the box it came in
it’s kinda funny to see so many others like myslef. i’m 7 days into a 180 day sentence. for traffic tickets oddly. but i know i just keep myself occupied and make the time pass quickly lol at only 20 i’m just glad i live on my own. not with parents or anything. privacy ftw. good luck everyone
Wow. Really WOW! Act like your lives are completely over and done. You are on house arrest. Not jail, not prison, just house arrest. Things could be much much worse. If your that desperate to take it off grab some kitchen scissors and cut it off. If your that desperate to get messed up any way possible I suggest going to the dentist, B.S. a massive toothache and get some pain killers. Otherwise, SMILE, YOUR NOT IN JAIL. I don’t have much room to talk seeing as I am only on for 60 days and have knocked out 20 already but DAMN, some of you sound like your on death row. Be thankful you A) Are still somewhat free B) have a decent enough job to afford this while people who made good money pump gas now C) YOUR NOT IN JAIL!!!! I thought some of the info on this site was quite helpful but most of it is just people pissing and moaning because they are stuck at home. Next time call a cab, don’t smoke weed on probation and piss dirty, don’t beat your girl, DON’T GET IN TROUBLE WITH THE LAW. Not that many people have been arrested or put on house arrest like us so either there are some odd million people who are just blessed with pure dumb luck or they are just a hair smarter and don’t make the dumb moves WE made. Thats right WE, I’m stuck with yall. Take a piece of advice though. Do a puzzle, read a book, play a video game, FUCK SOMETHING, but please quit getting on this site bitching about your problems. To everyone else, stay strong, it’ll be over before you know it, and my first beer and blunt is to you all. Cheers!
Wow! I have been reading a lot of this bullshit that is on this site. I am on house arrest myself and I would never think about taking this new braclet off. I have been on this since Nov. and I got 162 days for that one and then I have to turn right back around Apr. 29 and do 180 days. So you all want to bitch and complain, because you got a whole 60 days or even just 180 days. Well think about it this way would you rather be in a 8×8 room with people that you have no ideal who they are? Or someone telling you what time to go to bed at night? Or when it time to stop watching T.V. at night? UUUMMMM you could be in jail or prision. Im just thankful that I got house arrest and not jail time and the only thing that I did was violate my probabtion because I got caught shop lifiting. Another thing I have the new Cell unit and dude I really wouldn’t try to take it off if I was you. I am going to college for my Bachelors in criminal justice and it is something that I wouldn’t do. If you get causght, WHICH YOU WILL! It is a felony charge for escape, but do what you want. STOP THE BITCHING THOUGH!! suck it up and it will be over soon enough.
I totally agree with Joe and I said it in my last post.
This is a total privilege.
I went to pre-book and it just reminded me of what I could be doing which is sitting in a nasty cell with 3 guys smelling their crap or even worse 150 guys in a dorm all whining about their old lady’s doing other guys and boo hoo hoo, and have food with pubic hair in it so if you think this is bad do a 6 or 9 month stretch in OCJ.
You will know what a blessing this is.
I was dumb enough to get two DUI’s and the third was guilty by having priors and bad lawyers.
I know no one will believe this but I haven’t drank and drove with even a sip of alcohol in my system and my neighbor who had a problem over parking called in a false report of me driving recklessly and since I had two priors 9 and 7 years ago I was guilty and I didn’t have the $10,000 up front to get a lawyer who would have gotten it dropped to what it was which was at most a traffic infraction or dropped completely considering I was at my house for 30 minutes before the police showed up and I went out to see why they were there so if you think you have it bad think again.
I have no reason to lie and my first two DUI’s I deserved and I thank god I didn’t hurt anyone and I would never put others in risk like that ever again plus I will go to prison if I do it again so I just would never.
Just be happy you can eat what you want and work and sleep in your own bed and get laid and shower by yourself and eat whatever you want so if you think of cutting that bracelet off think of the year in prison they will give you for escape plus your whole original sentence staring over again from the beginning.
That is what you face if you cut it off and run.
It is called escape.
one year in prison and the original sentence over again plus probation violations for 30 to 90 days so think before you act and be thankful you are not me and still have 255 days to go at $700 a month.
Good luck everyone and hang tough.
It will be over and you will be back to blunt’s and drinking and all of the things you were doing before so just be patient.
Take care all and if you think the DUI laws are getting to stupid then visit my site and email me and let me know so we can get some support and maybe get the laws fixed so true drunks don’t get off and god citizens don’t get convicted of crimes they don’t commit and we get to keep our constitutional rights.
Take care everyone.Krafty.
Brian is a very cool guy and has helped me beyond belief so I think he is right on the money when he says that one persons case and experiences is not the rule and this is more a place to take what you can from it and hopefully it is positive and helps you and the people who know the most about what is happening are the ones who have been on it the longest but everyone needs to remember that this is a site that everyone is from different states so what might happen to someone in Cali will not happen to someone in Florida or Nebraska so please use this site for a place to ask people what they have gone through and take what you can from it that is positive and will help you in a positive way and don’t rely too much on the people who say they know what will happen to you because with any court no two cases are the same and nobody gets the same deal as someone else even if their situations are similar so just try to be positive and do everything to help your situation and not make it worse by self destructing and not following the rules because it is a lot better to be at home then n jail and I know from experience so I have lost a dear family member to a dui driver and I have driven drunk and I am just glad I didn’t hurt anyone.
I hope everyone gets to the end of their sentences without a hitch and I hope everyone is free as soon as possible.
Take care everyone and just be good and do what they tell you to do and that is your best shot.
Good luck.
Have a merry Christmas with your families.
Happy Holidays everyone

Okay so here is a dumb question… I go to sentinal every two weeks to turn in my schedule sheet but they never check my bracelet. If i just cut it off does anyone know if they will find out that I cut it off? I have never really had any interactions with my P.O. Not sure if I want to take the chance but i was just curious. I know at the end of my time it will be on jan. 31st and they said if its sunday I can just cut if off and they will charge me 10 dollars.
Im off on the 24th of January and believe me I can’t wait either. My only thing is I have read your older post and since you have been on since July then why even chance it?!?!? You have one more month then your done, finished, finito. Just ride it out and let it be and soon enough you can wear the cool socks again. But if it is a Sunday I don’t see any harm cutting that shit off Saturday night or maybe even Friday night before and having yourself a little celebration!!
im on the sentinal program also and i have the BI9000 Home Escort system, does anyone know what the range on this thing is and also can it detect alcohol in the system just through the ankle bracelet, and also is there a GPS hooked up to it that lets them know where im at all time and also since im given hours for work would they know if im at work or somewhere else like the gym.
thanks
DAMN I JUST OFF HOUSE ARREST LAST MONTH AND THEY WERE JUST GETTING THAT MODEL IN SHIT MAN BE SAFE AND HOPE YOU DONT DRINK. AND THEY KNOW EVERYWHERE YOU AT GYM, WORK, HOME DONT MATTER THEY KNOW AND I DONT WANT TO FIND OUT THE HARD WAY BY THEM SHOWING UP WHERE AT TO ARREST YOU SO DONT TRY NOTHING DUMB BUILD A TRUST WITH YOUR EM OFFICER AND IN TIME HE WILL GIVE YOU SOME SPACE TRUST I WAS ON HA FOR 2 1/2 YEARS I KNO.
So I got home like an hour ago and I was suppose to be home 5 1/2 hours ago. I am able to take my mother on her errands because I am her care taker… but they only gave me until 5:30pm I got home at Midnight and when I got in they called my house to see where I was. Its christmas and my mother had to finish her x mas shopping… anyone know what’s going to happen to me tomorrow when I go in tomorrow to pay my bi weekly bill? I am so nervous… I will never violate the program again. Has anyone ever been this late coming home or anything similar? Some advice would be sweet. Happy Holidays everyone.

I had an issue this morning with my breath test on Sentinel and I usually wait until I take my morning test to brush my teeth and use mouthwash.
Well the test has been happening later and later and I decided to just get ready and if it went off I would rinse my mouth out like they say to.
Well it went off about two minutes after I spit out the Listerine and I rinsed a few times and took the test and it went off again for a total of 4 times.
I called the monitoring company to ask them why it kept going off and the guy said it was for a positive breath test and I told him I had just rinsed my mouth out and he said no problem and to just tell my case worker what happened when I go in next week for my scheduled appointment.
Has anyone ever had a similar thing happen and will I get kicked off of the program for the positive test and get sent to jail?
I am worried but I don’t want to call my case worker and ask him over the phone and I just don’t know if I am going to get screwed by this.
I have to imagine the levels were low because he was very pleasant and understanding.
I threw out the Listerine and I am going to get alcohol free mouth wash so I never have this happen again and I haven’t drank since May so I would be really bummed to get kicked off for using mouthwash.
If anyone who is on Sentinel and has had a positive test and got to stay on the program could please let me know what happened I would greatly appreciate it.
I knew I should have just got into the shower and just missed this morning’s test but I didn’t think it would register so I am very worried I have totally blow it and will be in jail next week.
Thanks everyone.

I’m on my last day of HA on a 120 day sentence. It’s funny that I came across this the day I’m finished. Time on HA sucks and that’s that! Yeah, it’s better than jail BUT it’s expensive, it’s lonely, it’s embarrassing, and it’s nerve racking. BUT, as bad as HA is Jail would be worse. My advice to all of you is to bite the bullet and stop trying to find ways to beat the system. Do you time and when it’s over it’s over. Tomorrow I’m going in and I’m just gonna be all about getting this fucking thing off of me! No “high, how are you?” or “Happy New Year” or anything else. I’m gonna be like “Get it off’ and I’m gone forever! HA beats jail anytime so be thankful, do your time, and move on with your life :~)
Nate I have t agree with you and I have followed mine to the letter but not everyone here is trying to beat the system.
They are just looking to answers to questions that no one else can answer but those on HA.
I am glad you are off but I like many of us, we are on for quite some more time.
I am super stoked for you getting off on Monday and good luck to you.
I hope you never come back or worse go to jail.
Just don’t lump us all together as trying to beat the system.
Most are just trying to find answers they can’t find anywhere else.
It is stupid to try to remove the bracelet or get around the rules.
I am just glad you did 120 days and got off without incident.
Good luck to you and just remember not everyone is looking to beat the system.
We are mostly trying to find answers to questions from those who have been through it so if you have any advice for any of us who don’t know what to expect.
Like me and my positive breath test for mouthwash and not booze.
Please be constructive and give your knowledge as it is invaluable.
Good luck and congrats.
it isn’t any easy task to do the program without incident and get off on time without violating so you are a very self disciplined person not to do anything wrong over 120 days.
My hats off to you.
Good luck to you and if you have time to answer questions you would be helping people that are probably decent and good and just got screwed by the system and thanks for telling it like it is.
I hve 270 days and only am in 40 days so I hope I do as well as you.
Good luck.
Krafy
I am only 2 days in on 364 with 60 days credit. for violation of probation. I was told that I would be elgible for parole in 3 to 4 months does anybody know if that is true. I plan on compeleting the program with no incidents. I am NOT looking to go to jailk or remove my bracelet. This hard, but I just want to get done.
Thanks,
Funnigirl
What state are you in and i will letcha know…but yea yer usually up for parole i think its a third of the time….but sum states ya have to be 6 months or more and sum states over a year and a day
but lemme know and i will look it up fer ya…jaybonejbne on tha Y btw
i got a question i cut the moniter off 3 yrs ago i have a bench warrant now. But i was wondering if i came in to turn myself in and was willing to pay the fine for cutting the bracelet off and jus do the v.o.p in the county and i wud cum in with a power attorney tho?
I want to apologize if I gave the impression that everyone was trying to “beat the system”. I wasn’t implying that at all. I was pretty scared that I would violate the program and wind up in jail so I did exactly what they told me to do. I have a 5 year old daughter that’s with me half f the time and I work in the construction industry. Doing any time would have jeopardized my relationship with my daughter and I’d certainly lose my job; and in this economy, who knows where I would have ended up. My point was this, despite how bad house arrest is we do have reason to be thankful. I know it sucks, I know it’s expensive, I know it’s humiliating, and the PO Officers don’t give two sh*ts about us but it’s worse in jail. Krafy, you got 230 more days which is a lot I know. 115 days from now you’ll be halfway home and it’s down hill from there. That’s how looked at it and it helped me get through. I too wish you all the best and hang in there, this will be over sooner than you think :~)
Nathan
Hey Nick, I knew what your intent was and I really hope you didn’t think I was getting down on you at all.
I really just am very thankful for this board because I met a couple of really awesome people that helped me to get through the approval process and get accepted.
It is the only message board for us and I just wanted to say that from what I have seen on it 90% of the posters are truly trying to help others by answering questions and people asking serious questions about what to do if they have questions because there is no one to turn to especially probation or the monitoring companies so it is this site or nothing for us and almost everyone has been so awesome to me that I am just grateful to posters like Brian and Anthony and you.
I just wanted to let everyone know that this is one of the only message boards for us and it is a great so thanks everyone for everything.
I am stoked you are off and good luck to you and stay out of trouble because I hear they don’t let you do it twice so good luck to you and thanks.
If you have any idea of what is going to happen for having a positive breath test because of mouth wash I would really appreciate it?
Would they have called me and asked about it or called me in early or just wait for me to come in to violate me for it?
I really didn’t drink and I have been sober for over 6 months and the positive test was over a week ago so I don’t know what to think.
I called the monitoring co right after and the guy told me it was no problem and just explain to my case worker on my next appointment so if you have any idea I would be grateful for any input.
Thanks Nick and good luck to you and stay out of trouble.
Joe
Joe.
I’m not sure who Nick is but ok! ha ha ha. If the listerine incident is the truth then I suggest you just be calm about it, explain what happened, and let them make the call. If listerine can set off the device then this certainly can’t be the first time it’s happened. I’d say this to them, “look, if the monitoring device is so sensitive that listerine can set it off, then I’ll stop using it. Are there any other mouthwash’s that can set it off?” You know what I’m saying?
I tell you what, I wish I found this blog 120 days ago!!!! That’s for sure. Good luck Joe and all the rest of you. Oh, I’m glad you told me about only be able to do house arrest once. I’m not planning on getting in trouble again but it’s good to know none the less. Thanks,
Nathan
IM ON HOUSE ARREST TELL APRIL 6 IMA GO OUT RIGHT NOW AHAHA
THE JUGE TOLD ME IF I FUCK UP I WILL GET 9 MONTHS CAMPP
If I am scheduled to be at work from 4-11pm and get off work early like 8. I decide to stop off at the store to get food. Will they know. even if I am home by the scheduled time 1130pm
they could know whats the brand of yer bracelette?
Ok so im on house arrest for 66 days with 62 reamaining… not bitching by no means. It does suck that i live with my parents, but im spoiled (daddy’s girl) so if you can imagian it is not all that bad. My main concern and question is how far do these things range. mine is the sentinel- dual trak (trak series) i have a dog that i chain out and also smoke and my parents do not smoke. so im wanting to know how far i can go. i alway smoke on the outside of the garge but i dont want to get in trouble for smoking let alone letting my puppy go potty!!! heheh some one please let me know!!!! not trying to get out of this just trying to make sure i dont get in trouble!
easiest way to test it is have sumone stand near it and walk out past 75 feet….they shoulda told ya how far ya have from the box….
Well I can tell you from my experience that with the Sentinel system I have I am able to go outside and smoke no problem.
I go pretty much everywhere in my backyard but I won’t go as far in the front just because the monitoring equipment is further back in the house closer to the back yard but they have to give you some wiggle room because of the size of your house so since I have a 2 story house and its pretty big being 5 bedrooms with two living rooms I can go outside pretty far but I don’t try to go past my house and I don’t go very far out front.
They gave me the whole line about it being house arrest not yard arrest and I think they just do that to intimidate you from not screwing up too bad so they have to be bothered with you since all they want it to spend as little time on you as possible and get your money so the less time they have to take away for you and the more money they can get the more profit they make and that is what it is all about so I wouldn’t even worry much about smoking or letting your dog go out to do his business but just don’t go as far as you could go if it were in your house give or take 20 feet or so .
If you have any questions then you can email at thekrafty1@live.com and I can answer anything I have dealt with myself for you about sentinel since I am doing 270 days and I have 60 days under my belt now and they have been way cool with me and I have even screwed up a few times so if you have any more questions feel free to email me.
Joey
I just want to tell you lames who can’t even do house arrest that you need to just cut it off and be a man about it. I mean if you think that it’s bad just imagine I did six years and was happy when I got to the point that I got to have the monitor. So just nut up take it off and you’ll find out how much freedom you really have. Idiots!!!
i am on fuckin house arrest for bail jumping….well first i stole 2 4 wheelers and totalled them with 4 other guys and then we entered a business and stole some shit but we gave everything back i was just wondering how long i will be on this fuckin thing for and if i will get any jail time for any of this shit!!!!! please help
Sounds like you have it pretty easy for the crimes you’ve committed. Some people are on house arrest for unpaid tickets and fines. You could be facing some serious jail time (scratch that: PRISON time) especially if they charge you for felonies. Definitely make sure you get a lawyer (even if it’s just a public defender, anything is better than nothing!) but in your case it’d probably be worth the investment to pay for a decent lawyer. Keep in mind, House Arrest is a privledge, and the alternative is much worse! So be thankful and own up to your mistakes (although those thefts aren’t a big deal in your mind, I bet the people you stole from don’t take it so light heartedly). Showing regret and remorse (maybe even writing a SINCERE apology to the victims) goes a long way with judges, since they like to see you’ve learned from your mistakes and are being rehabilitated.
Hope things work out alright for you, and if it comes down to it and you hate HA that much – tell the judge you don’t want on it and I’m sure he’ll have no problem issuing you a nice jumpsuit and cot in your local jail or prison. Good luck though…
I would dump your boyfriend like bad habit !
If i unplug my monitor/box…would they know i went out that night? can I say It wasnt working?….anyone???
U COULD DO YOUR TIME ON HOUSE ARREST, BUT LOOKING AT YOU MIGHT HAVE FELONY CHARGES FOR THAT YOU MIGHT NEED A GOOD LAWYER AND PRAY THEY DONT CHARGE U WITH FIRST/OR SECOND DEGREE ROBBERY AND GRAND THEFT AUTO WHICH ALL IS CLASS B FELONIES THAT LAND YOU 1-25 YEARS FOR EACH COUNT SO HOUSE ARREST IS BEST THING FOR YOU THAT COUNT AS TIME SERVE ON YOUR CASE BUT BEING REAL QUIT BREAKING INTO SHIT THEY DO GIVE OUT LIFE SENTENCES FOR THAT AND 10 GRAND WORTH OF SHIT AINT WORTH IT CUZ
IF U CUT THE BOX OFF AND GO OUT THEY WILL FIND U CAUSE THAT BOX AINT THE ONLY THING TRACKING U THE ANKLE IS STILL ON AND WORKING SO IF U DO IT GET READY FOR JAIL OR PRISON!!!!!!!!!!!!
i am on house arrest as of now, and will be on untill march 24th i got a 242 day sentance, so i dont wanna hear anyone complain about a 30-90 day sentance, i could do that standing on my head, plus on top of all that the courts made me move back into my parents house! try getting an maintaining any type of relationship or friendship with that mess
and in response to the radius…if you have the “plug in” box in your house its usually anywhere from 100 to 150 feet, i am on a gps based system and my radius trip point is 500 feet, but as a fail safe you can always call the monitoring company and ask
mine was 75feet they usually dont give you the full 500…shit i havent heard of anything above 100ft and thats from the box…
Well guys, the time has come, the end is near. I have until friday the 22nd and its off. Then I’m going on tour. No not a tour with a band. Not work related either. I’m going on a non-stop all day extravaganza bar tour. Bracelet comes off at 7 am and the beer starts flowing at 7:15!!! After a few drinks it will be time to smoke a lil something and go back to bed to get ready for the evening, which will be non-stop. I hope all the best for everyone who visits this site looking for information and support and will still check by on some of you guys, Krafty, make sure your still live and kicking. Just remember, you could be at poundmeintheass prison somewhere so be grateful some judge saw you as a person of change, and next time lets do ourselves a favor and not get caught! Like I said in a previous post, my first beer and blunt is to you guys!
Congrats man, I’ll have 7 of my 9 months down on the 26th. It’s gettin close, I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. You better
f’in celebrate when your bracket comes off because I know I am in march. Just make sure u have a cab or a d.d. and party the f’in night away.
Hello all,
Today is day 35 of 120, haven’t left the house at all in that time. I realize that I need to schedule for classes/treatment etc. but I currently am unemployed and have no way to pay for the classes. The adult prob. officer assigned to me said something to the effect of starting the process to put me in violation of not complying with treatment and such and I could possibly end up in front of a judge. My question is, is this just an idle threat to get me to beg friends and family for money and get the ball rolling or what? I have not once done anything to violate the terms of HA, didn’t call with stupid excuses for a window to leave the house or anything, haven’t had any booze or anything. So, what are your thoughts?
BTW, totally agree with what people said earlier about waiting it out and not doing anything stupid. The circumstances of me getting to this point are completely ridiculous but as far as the court is concerned we are all just another case number, and they will not hesitate to punish us further, and I know I never want to see the inside of a jail cell, not for one minute. It’s funny, I came across this site looking for answers to my question about the treatment classes and it made me feel a whole lot better knowing that I’m not alone in this. Good luck to all of you, and hopefully we can all look back on this time in our lives and laugh about it, but it should always serve as a reminder to be safe and smart in the future. See you on the other side…
in no way are they trying to make you beg for money but rather they are trying to force you into getting and holding a legit job whether it be part time or full time. they’re goal is to ultimately make you a contributing member of society hence their decision not to lock you up. my advice would be to go online and fill out some applications, then not only will you be compliant but you will also have some money and something to do. trust me staying busy makes it way easier to deal with and like i said before having some money doesn’t hurt either. not to mention saving up money is way easy when your not allowed to go out and spend it, then when that anklet comes off you have all that money to throw yourself a release party and get all twisted up.
with no source of income i believe they do have the authority to let you attend treatment for free until you find employment or get you on a payment plan starting when you find employment, ask your PO about that but make sure you put in the effort if they give you that option. make sure you create a paper trail as proof of your efforts to the PO such as application print outs or copies of some sort confirming they were actually sent in.
Good luck ese,
THE RZA
Holy crap guys, I only got about a month to go! I’m so f’in happy! Been on this since Oct 30th and I get off Feb 26th. First thing I’m gonna do is go on top of a mountain and smoke a blunt! I do wonder if they will drug test me when I’m back on regular probation since this ain’t a drug charge. I just can’t wait to be able to drive around the city without a care in the world. I miss that freedom so much and I actually feel hopeful for the first time since I only got 30 days left. My EMP officer said he thinks I ain’t no trouble and he doesn’t even keep an eye out for me really. That’s what happens when you don’t mess up and follow the rules. Remember that guys! They got enough to worry about so if you don’t act like some idiot or thug then they will not hassle you. Peeing in a cup every three weeks sucks though. Stay up guys and don’t test the system, this is better than jail or prison!!!
you know joe im pretty sure they will still test you on regular probation, some of my boys have got off of doin piss tests after doin 50% to 75% of their scheduled time on probation> HOWEVER, just like you said they hadnt messed up once during that time and followed all the rules of the PO.
I was looking at 6-8 months in the county but i got off with 60 days house arrest. its not the best for me but it could always be worse. And to all who want to know there is ways to get out of the house without being in trouble. its a cold way but you can get 4 hours out of it
this is the stuff i need to know right here! im not to familiar with the tricks of getting around HA but i am on it for the next 6 months. tell me more, sometimes i would just like to go down the street to my cousins house for a brew or 2 and to my aunts for a bar B Q both places a couple minutes walk down the street. i usually only go for an hour or two but havent gone at all cuz i dont wanna fuck up, how if at all can i go without getting in trouble?
Hey Joe,
Good luck to you and thanks for all of the great posts.
I am glad for you and I hope you never have to go back to court so just keep it in perspective and stay out of a car after drinking.
I am very glad I found this site as I have met a couple of way cool people that have been huge in helping answer my questions and putting me at ease.
So are you in Southern Cali?
Why do they have you pee every three weeks if you are not on for drugs or is that your PO or is that Sentinel that tests you?
I would think you would be like the rest of us DUI losers that just have the one test to get in and breath tests three times a day and no drug tests unless you give them suspicion or a reason to test you.
Well you are pretty much done so good luck to you.
Take a toke and drink a beer for me.
Joey W.
Perhaps you have me confused with another Joe on here because I’m not on this for DUI. I am not in SoCal, I am in NorCal (Santa Clara County to be exact). So I got no breath tests and have the random drug tests just because that is their policy for house arrest (I assume the would do the breathalizer test if I got a DUI). So yeah, there is basically a separate guy that comes to give the piss tests and my only issue is that it’s inconvenient and I can’t pee on command like they want you to. I pretty much hold my pees for a certain amount of time so I actually have some when they come and I don’t look shady.
Anyways, this experience has taught me not to make dumbass decisions and think before I act. All this could have been easily avoided but I guess this might’ve been a blessing in disguise. Still sucks though.
Good luck to you as well, I’ll be glad to have a drink and a toke in your honor and I guess all the others on these boards honor. PEACE.
This month marks 9 months since I cut my anklet off. I have stayed out of trouble and continue to read this board just to see whats going on with people on HA. Stay strong and do your sentence. Don’t fuck around trying to get the anklet off and don’t fuck around with your PO. Deal straight and you will get through this just fine. I was up against some tough charges and I was able to plea my way out of them with an acceptance of responsibility to the court and a lot of legal wrangling. I paid dearly for my crimes. I guess never being caught before this and being truly repentant paid off. I know I will never commit a crime again. I will never go before a judge for anything again. I wish you all peace and success, stand strong and make the best of this.
Peace.
The end is so close I can feel the freedom. I am down to my last 4 days. It is Wed. the 27th and I am done on the 1st of February. HOLLER!!!!… I can’t believe 210 days actually went by a bit faster than I had anticipated. I can honestly say It didn’t seem to bad and I learned how to be a home body. I did however end up going to the Lady Gaga concert and I was also able to make food runs if a friend was driving and we were quick.. However I don’t recommend other people risk any of that stuff. Just saying what my experience was with the program.
Anyway I can’t wait until monday. I don’t think I will go straight to a bar or anything like that since that is the reason I ended up on HA in the first place. I plan on turning a new leaf and to wait for the following weekend because I will be in Vegas with all my buddies during super bowl weekend. Well deserved I think. Anyway Good luck to everyone on here, take it one day at a time and try not to count the days.
Peace to all.
No JoeD, I didn’t have you confused for someone else.
I just thought you were down in the OC for some reason.
I am really stoked for you and Mars for making it and everyone else who has done this and come to this board to give their support and knowledge.
I just can’t say how big of a deal it was for me to find this one board because there is not a single other board that I could find and I had so many questions leading up to actually getting approved and if it weren’t for a couple of people I would have not gotten approved if I had not gotten the advice from Brian and Anthony who is off now.
If it weren’t for those two guys I would have just left my application as it was and they would have denied me for not listing previous convictions and other info.
Every time I would get worried I would ask them the questions and get an answer from one of them and they truly made me get to day 78 with no problems.
I am very hopeful and determined now to keep to the program and not end up losing everything for a night of drinking or smoking when all of that will still be here when I get off in 198 days so it seems a little far off but it would be so much worse and seem so much longer if I were in OCJ.
Good luck to those of you who are getting off and I really hope you never have to deal with Court or this again.
Thanks to everyone on here that is a positive person and helps others by just giving them advice and answering questions based from their personal experience because it is invaluable for anyone who doesn’t have a fancy lawyer to help them or answer their questions.
Well, thanks again to everyone and good luck to those of you who are getting off soon.
Joey
I do not have to take breath tests , but the five strip drug test . Will this test for alcohol ?
Breath tests and the 5 strip test are two completely things……breath is for alcohol and strip for 5 different drugs….coke, meth, weed, benzo and opiate pills…….
No, the five strip drug test only tests for THC, Cocaine, Amphetamines (Ecstasy and Meth can also be found using this), PCP, and Opiates (Vicodin, Heroin, Oxys, etc). Things like alcohol, shrooms, lsd and the like aren’t tested in this. Alcohol needs a specific alcohol only test while hallucinogens are almost never tested and I think can only be found with extremely expensive testing that they only do if they have reason to think you do them (such as being on probation for a shroom violation).
For those that need to know, all the drugs except THC will only stay in your urine for 2-3 days. Chronic use (no pun intended) of THC will stay in your system for 4-6 weeks while if you smoke one of month or something it will only be in your system 3-7 days.
I am on for growing shrooms and pos of ecstacy. And the dnt test for shrooms go figur?
i got 52 days left out of 242, gps bracelet with built in alcohol monitoring, its not all that bad guys, keep your head up the time will fly by like you wouldnt believe, just gotta keep remembering that its so much better to be at home then bein in jail eatin that terrible food sleepin on a miserable bed with unstable bunkies and short visits thru glass and a horrible little phone haha, so smile and keep lookin up! good luck to all!
I recently got my second DUI charge [ ORANGE COUNTY CA] in the last 6 years. I know I was wrong and deserve to be punished. The problem is my wife has a grade four tumor in her brain that has required 3 different operations. The last one was back in December and left her with no movement in her left arm and leg. She is currently in a rehabilitation hospital. My question is do any of you think that HA will be an option considering if a get jail time ; I lose my job and medical insurance for her.
i think there is a bit of a chance for you to get HA since they do take stuff like that into consideration when determining an appropriate sentence to hand down to you. another thing they consider which has a significant impact on their decision is prior criminal record so the more priors you have the less of a chance there is of you getting HA. i dont know how they deal with DUIs in cali but down here in New Mexico they take it pretty seriously and my homie recently got his 2nd DWI and was sentenced to do like 8 weekends in county while being released during the week to go to work. hell I just got 6 months HA for growing 2.5 acres of pot in national forest land with a 2 million dollar street value (a federal class B felony) now I dont know if me and my boy just got lucky in our cases (well actually I was very lucky considering it calls for a 5 year mandatory minimum in fed prison) but i think you have a good chance of HA or just probation if you can prove you are her care taker and insurance holder. just make sure you have a good lawyer thats gonna fight for you and not roll over for the judge.
Good luck Steve and hang in there man,
THE RZA
wow i agree 100% with joe
I’ve been reading everyone’s stories on here and it has given me some hope.
It is my husband, not myself, that will begin his HA in two weeks, and I know it’s going to be hard, but we’re just so happy that he can be home that I don’t think we’ve thought through the trials yet.
I do wonder if anyone has any experience with emergency situations though. I’m 5 months pregnant and due at the start of June and we worry about the reprocutions of my water breaking and him taking me to the hospital. Did anyone have a situation where you HAD to leave unexpectedly?
in my case my PO told me that should i ever have an emergency such as one of my kids hurting themselves and needing to be rushed to urgent care, or any type of emergency that i should just do what i need to do and then just call his cell phone and or office phone and speak with him or leave a message. HA isnt really about making your life hell its more about you being accountable and compliant with the conditions they have set forth. so as far as things go that are out of your control but absolutely necessary they will work with you as much as they can, unless they just want to be dicks. my advise is to build trust with the person you report to so that they dont treat you like shit just because they can, this has worked great with me for the past 13 months.oh yea and should you have an emergency just make sure you get paperwork to back up your story, definitely make sure it has the date and time of your absence from home and remember dont forget to call them to let them know that you had an emergency.i think it would also be a good idea to let them know that this is going to happen in the next few months just so they will expect it.
good luck

yea you DEF DEF DEF have to call the officer on duty at the prison in the Home Confinement departtment…..cuz otherwise u will be held accountable…so BFOR ytou go anywhere call officer on duty….i had to goto hospital but called officer on duty…they gave me permission…i went and had to have security call officer on duty before i left….def dont just go and then call…CALL BFOR U GO or they will probably violate you…it should say in yer packet or whatever they gave you at the first visit?
i just got put on HA for six months. theyre using a Homeguard 200 radio frequency ankle bracelet to monitor me. is anyone familiar with this equipment? does anyone know what the radius is on this thing?
To answer rza.. just had the Homeguard 200 put on April 1st and my Deputy told me the radius is 100 feet. She pointed to how far I can go into my backyard, and I can even go far enough into the front to empty trash (scary when being able to empty trash is exciting!). I only have 15 days… but my Cat had to have emergency surgery almost 30 days ago and due to complications, He needs follow-up and they just plain don’t give a f*ck about my pet. Problem is, I’ve spent close to $6000 (yes you read that correctly!) attempting to keep him alive and if in the next 12 days remaining he has an emergency, they flat told me TOO BAD! So if he dies, are THEY going to reimburse me??!! Sh*theads! Not to mention, 3 days in and I am DYING for a Corona Light!! It’s Easter, I’m alone, and so desperate I’m even searching the house even for mouthwash!!! ARGGGG!!!!!
210 more anoying days how can i pass the time
im new at this sight but have noticed alot of people coming through asking for advice and instead of getting it they are getting some self rightious glory god coming on and telling them to suck it up and calling them idiots, morons, losers and lame asses. so if you are on the same sight as these morons and losers then what does that make you. everyone on here is just a person who made a mistake just like you. lets stop the bashing and help each other out its bad enough we have these pieces of shit strapped to our ankles i dont think we need anyone making it worse. we are all in this together lets make the best of it.
peace to all,
THE RZA
Hey, just want to know the range on this thing? I agree with rza, we all fucked up, now just some help here. I have the damn bi9000, just went out to the car and grabbed some shit and it started beeping. Is this gonna be a violation?
nahhh…did they call you?..usually they will try to call your house first then a cellphone…etc
u know my PO told me that if i go out of range at all that it is a violation BUT he said that if i could prove that i was on my property then he would hit me with a violation. to prove this he said he would need to come to my home and have me go to the area where i claimed to have been when i went outta range so he could verify the story. ive recently found out that that the range for the Homeguard 200 is about 150 to 200 feet but im not to sure about the bi9000 although both systems are monitored and distributed by the same company. i think if your PO is a reasonable person and is willing to listen to reason then u should be fine, i was lucky enough to b monitored by a reasonable guy. 5 and a half months to go wish me luck and good luck to u as well Evestress, it will all b over soon just hang in there>>>>
THE RZA
one more thing that i wanted to let everyone know is that the Homeguard 200 system CANNOT sense alcohol through the bracelet one your leg, however there is an extension to the system that plugs into the ‘homebase’ called the Sobrietor that can sense alcohol when you receive a call on your land line. its pretty much a breathalizer on ur phone which no body could cheat on for you apparently because it compares your voice to a pre recorded voice pattern in their system. but wait here it comes… HOWEVER i am not completely familiar with all anklets that can be paired with the system if any at all so dont take this as an across the board fact. i have recently read that if u were to b equipped with an alcohol sensitive bracelet then it would b mounted FIRMLY to ur ankle and not just hangin off half ass the way mine is and on one last note just so everyone is aware, there is a test which can tell if you ingested alcohol within the past 80 hours before the test. it is called an ETG/ETS test, google it and read up about it cuz i know that we all got nothin but time on our hands, LOL.
good luck
THE RZA
The alcohol monitoring bracelet IS more snug around your ankle. It’s not tight; they want you to be able to clean underneath it, and move it enough that your skin doesn’t react if you have to wear it long periods of time.
With this thing you have to be extra careful. Did you know there’s alcohol in vanilla? The kind you put in a cake. Or, forget mouthwash, there’s some toothpastes you can’t use. It picks up just about any alcohol that your body injests, so be safe.
yea theres quite a list of things that can trigger a positive result for alcohol if ur tested including many OTC meds (the most ‘popular’ is nyquil), vanilla extract (just like u mentioned), ginko biloba, almost any kind of tincture, some vitamins/supplements, and any food prepared with alcohol. oh yea and also many hygiene product such as mouthwash(like listerine), some but very few toothpastes, some breath strips and breath candies, many aerasol deodorants and body sprays, and also hand sanitizer. last but not least there are some home improvement products used in construction, plumbing, etc that if inhaled because of working in confined areas or by skin contact could trigger positive tests and could ultimately cause a positive ETG test up to 3 to 4 days later. just remember to read ingredients on everything and anything u may come in contact with and or ingest.
at first i thought that mine was a alcohol bracelet but after a long online search i was able to conclude that it wasnt, although they do test me by breathalyzer and ETG UA randomly twice a month down from once a week two weeks ago for the past 11 months. with this big of a time gap if u could figure out the basic pattern that they usually use and throw back a couple of brews right after a test. i actually got away with drinkin every weekend while on random once a week tests for the past 11 months. by any means i dont suggest you follow my example, im just one of those folks that just dont conform to their rules and enjoys pushin my luck. i dont mean to brag but i like to boast! LOL just kidding! or am i ?????????? until the next episode, Laterz, behave and good luck if u choose not to conform.
peace THE RZA
i did 5 months failed and now im doing ten more so shut the fuck up about 90 days.
can you hook a cordless phone up to them?
d-bob why dont you shut the fuck up, nobody wants to hear your bitching and moaning. its nobodys fault but your own that you failed and got more time. this sight is for helping eachother not to see whos more of a badass for having more time, so wat if someone is talking about 90 days, good for them cuz in 90 days while your at home playing with yourself they will be out partying and fucking. as for your question why dont you just do it, your a big man, right badass. i know the answer to that question but feel no need to help someone with your attitude. come through with a little more respect for people next time and you will probably get a better response.
