How to Remove a House Arrest Bracelet

How to remove house arrest bracelet in just a few easy steps.

If you want to remove a house arrest bracelet then there are a few things to consider first. Removing it is an offense that breaks your parole and will easily put you back in prison. Things gotta be pretty desperate if you’re reading this and need to remove that anklet. So here’s a few questions I ask a guy I know who’s currently doing 90 days (as of writing this):

Here’s a Q and A on house arrest bracelets

Q: What is House Arrest?
A: House Arrest limits an offender’s movement within the community through electronic monitoring. House Arrest encompasses a philosophy of home detention, and strict accountability for any movement of the offender within the community, as approved by the Court or House Arrest office. House Arrest is used in lieu of incarceration in a State prison or County jail.

Q: Have you ever taken your house arrest anklet off? and how?
A: haha Well since you’re not using my name here, I have been able to remove it to go swimming. I was told by my P.O. not to get it wet. I believed him but he’s a dick anyways and is probably lying to me. So what I did was slide under it a steel rod about 2 feet long. Then I twisted it until the rivets or button things popped off. I totally panicked when I saw that but at least it was off. I then had someone goto a tailor and get the same kind of leather rivets and reinserted them.

Q: Who can be on House Arrest?
A: Any individual who is either pre or post conviction may be supervised by electronic monitoring, through legal assignment of a Court or Probation / Parole Officer. Cases supervised include offenders from the District Court, various municipalities, as a condition of bond, per the written directive of a Probation or Parole Officer, and via the Conditional Release program of the Johnson County Residential Center.

Q: How long does House Arrest last?
A: The length of House Arrest supervision is determined by the sentencing Court or entity. Sentences range from one day to an indefinite period. Typical terms of House Arrest supervision range from 30 to 90 days in length.

Q: What equipment is used to electronically monitor an offender?
Monitoring Equipment A: House Arrest utilizes electronic monitoring equipment (see image on right), installed in an offender’s residence, to verify each offender’s compliance. This equipment is used via phone lines, and serves several functions. Random computer generated phone calls to the offender’s residence provides the House Arrest department with a photographic response, a voice response, and a breath sample to ensure the offender is not using / abusing alcohol. The photographic response is recorded, verifying the offender is in their residence, as scheduled.

Q: Do offenders have equipment strapped to their body?
A: In some circumstances offenders are required to wear a tamper proof ankle bracelet, which electronically communicates with their home monitoring unit. This ankle bracelet notifies House Arrest any time the offender exits without authorization, and continuously confirms the offender’s presence within the residence. Ankle bracelets are utilized to strictly reduce offender movement, in conjunction with the photographic, voice, and breath response.

Q: What activities are offenders on House Arrest allowed to do?
A: Dependant upon Court orders, some offenders are strictly restricted to their residence, while others are allowed to maintain employment and approved activities. These activities would include educational programming, probation and parole meetings, drug testing, substance abuse and mental health treatment, and religious services. All movement must be scheduled and approved in advance, by the assigned House Arrest Officer.

Q: How is schedule compliance verified?
A: Each offender must meet weekly with their assigned House Arrest Officer to create a written schedule of movement for the week. Upon each weekly meeting, the offender must provide proof of their compliance via pay stubs, work schedules, receipts, verification cards, etc. House Arrest Officers maintain a high level of contact with offender employers and treatment providers to verify compliance, and complete random community compliance checks on each offender, at their residence or place of employment.

Q: What happens when someone violates his or her House Arrest?
A: When an offender can not be located, a four-hour non-compliance procedure is initiated. During this four-hour period many steps are taken to locate the offender, including a residence check by local law enforcement, manual calls to the offender’s residence and employment, and contact of the offenders listed emergency contact. If the client can not be located that offender is declared Absent Without Leave (AWOL). In all District Court cases, a warrant request is immediately completed, and filed with the Sheriff’s Department. With Municipal and Parole offenders, the referring Municipality or Parole Officer is notified immediately, and those individual entities initiate their revocation proceedings When violations occur and the offender’s whereabouts are known, a wide variety of sanctions can be imposed, up to and including the arrest and detention of the offender.

Q: Are offenders under House Arrest supervision tested for drug use?
A: Yes I have. Each offender receives a breath analysis each time the monitoring equipment contacts them at their residence. Each offender is also required to submit to frequent and random urinalyses testing, to ensure they are maintaining a drug free lifestyle. Drug testing is increased in cases of noncompliance, upon behavioral concerns, or when reasonable belief exists that the offender is possible using illegal drugs.

Q: What does House Arrest cost?
A: The cost of House Arrest supervision is incurred by the offender. Each offender is required to pay a daily monitoring fee of $12. Increase fees apply for individuals living outside the local calling area. Each offender is also required to pay for frequent random drug testing.

Alright here we go! shave the rubber on the band until you hit wire get another random wire out of your house and connect on separate parts of shaved wire… cut the in between section the signal isn’t broken cause the power flow is still going through slip of ankle if u don’t wanna get caught when turning back in then do this near actual monitor like way near so when u are at school work or whatever u can disassemble and make it tighter cause u took it off… not rocket science…..! But be carefull because if it’s not done right you are F**ked!

I have been on house arrest for 10 months now for simple posession of herb (misdemeanor). Unfortunately, I could not afford a lawyer and there’s no way I was going to have my parents blow their money on one, so I got poor-man’s justice. I spent my 21st birthday on house arrest, yay, I didn’t even notice the new year. I am/was an avid backpacker, so during the winter I would set up my tarp for shelter and sleep outside in my back yard about 90 feet from the receiver box. I live in a large house and can go about 15 feet out into the yard in every direction, but going any farther is sketchy. Only once did I get a call from the monitor lady saying “You’re out of range, honey.” I was sleeping outside but I told her that I was sleeping in the basement and that must have been why it had me “out of range”. So far I have had good relations with my probation officer, hopefully I have passed all my drug tests. I’m an idiot and I have been occasionally smoking herb throughout my sentence (hopefully the Test Pure drinks work or I’m fucked, potentially). I essentially dilute my piss and then use the drinks to make it seem legitimate. I know that my ankle monitor is virtually tamper-proof, I was just wondering if anyone here has any personal experience with Test Pure or any of the masking agents that allegedly help people to pass drug tests. I’ve got less than 2 months to go and then I’m off. I’m assuming that they would have told me that I’ve failed a drug test and would have revoked my house arrest by now if those drinks don’t work as advertised.

In the mean time, I’ve just been drinking a lot of water and reading a lot of Chomsky and some books by Ruchard Dawkins. It’s cool to be able to talk to other people who have been through the shit I’m going through. Any legible, intelligent responses would be most appreciated.

Well I just started my home confinement today. I got 12 months. Kinda sucks but eh whatever. It’s better then where I was. And yeah at first I was trying to figure out a way to slip it off and beat the system but what’s the point. Just suck it up, lay it down, and do the time. Ain’t really worth going to or back(for me) prison. If anyone is bored or whatever hit me up on AIM Bell91501198.

Hello ,I just got the homeguard 200 the guy who installed it said that the range is around 150 feet but it decreases with objects in the path(walls). The best way that i can think of to extend your range in your home is to go buy a 1000ft box of phoneline and some long ass extenion courds, just load the system up in a bag and cary it anywhere on your propoerty. You just have to switch they system over to your wires with out disrupting the power and you should be good. I hope you all have fun I know I will!!!!

PS take note that I didnt tell you to do this, Thanks

hi,im Casey and i started house arrest today.I am on it for 2 weeks, so little because i didn’t do nothing. It was what someone made me do. I dont know if my PO noes if i’m telling the truth , or im just on house arrest for protection. But anyway,my point is.Whats the point of being a trouble maker? You already are on house arrest. Whats the point of trying to get off it.Yeah im sure you have heard of the expression, shit happens or live with it.And its all true.Waste of your life. Your all probably thinking,oh! I can get away with everything, lemme cut my ankle bracelet off. USELESS!
Anyways, just wanted to wish you all luck and hopefully, you don’t find a way to take off house arrest bracelet, and you just live with it.
Im Casey, and im 14 years old going to be 15 in june =]

I have 6 months house arrest and I got 5 more to go.
Whats driving me crazy is that my baby daughter died in Feb. and I am not allowed to visit her grave. I think that is cruel and unusual punishment

Colin
Reply

Tamara,

First off I’m sorry for your loss. My advice to you would be to tell them that you are going to church on Sunday’s and go visit her grave then. Unless you have a GPS monitoring device they won’t know. I’m basing that off of my situation though so it might be different for you. Someone told me they have to get a paper signed by someone wherever they go. I don’t know. But yeah look into that.

Colin
Yea I thought about that. I got to sneek up there 1 time for about a half hour.I told them I was at a job interview. I did go to one but I stoped to pay respect.I feel really bad for all my kids. Im a single mother with 3 kids at the house…but its like they are on house arest too, ya know?
No..I dont have GPS…I dont think so anyway. The box says BI 9000.
Does anyone know if because my house arrest was made on a plea to the DA if I will be able to be get of early on good time?

Tamara
Reply

And I just came up with a nice little hustle to get out of the house for a few extra hours….Get a paper route job and just have a little brother, sister or your kids to do the job and just let them keep the pay. You have a job and proof of income and extra time out.

I need some imformation regarding the BI 9000 ankle bracelet. I was put on inhouse arrest for a DUI for 4 months. I have certain hours I can go outside and I have faithfully done what I was told. My P.O. kust called and stated I was going back in front of the judge because I’m going outside. PLEASE someone help me. I’m not going outside…I wasn’t told the Do’s and Don’t's.. She mentioned something about glass..? Which at the time I was so upset of being accused, I didn’t think to ask…Can someone explain this to me…? Thanks

Advise for all…If you happen to mess up and come home late…talk to your P.o. A.S.A.P.
I got home an hour later than I was sappose to on Saturday. I was stressed out the rest of the weekend cause I thought she was going to violate me. I went to her office first thing this morning to plead my case to her as to why I was late. She appreciated it and she actually rewarded me by allowing me to spend some extra time at my daughters grave. This is the first time she allowed me up there in 2 months.
Some of them {po] may seem like pricks at first but I think they are just doing their job and when you do your job thy will reward you.
BUT IM STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GET THIS DAMN THING OFF!!!!!! LOL

Wow, I just read almost all the posts and I have to say I’m a little confused.
First off, If you’re on house arrest,(and most of us on this thread are, including myself),
It means that you’re only an eyelash away from jail. If you do anything that you know
you’re not supposed to like try to remove the ankle b. or drink, or go out and hope you
don’t get a phone call from HA, then you’re toast. For me it would be right back to
jail and I already did 120 days there and I don’t really feel like going back! My advice
is this…Sit at home where it’s comfortable, watch T.V., go to the kitchen and make a
grilled cheese fricken sammy. Read the paper, call a friend, play video games, clean the
basement, write a blog, build a toothpick jail and then smash the S^$T out of it !!
anything…anything to help time go by and then return your equipment to HA and forget you
ever had to go through this crap. JUST DON’T SCREW IT UP AND GO TO JAIL!! I have 2 weeks
left out of 80 days HA and I’m cruisin’ in home watchin Bob Barker and the final Price
is Right shows. WOOOOT Be Smart, and I’ll see u in Freedom-ville

Mike Reynolds,

No shit. I think the main problem is that most of these people have never been locked up. Look you all, you don’t want to go to jail or prison. It fucking sucks. Trust me. It really does. Just lay it down. Stop crying like little bitches. Seriously. We got it so much better then so many people. And I don’t give a fuck if you deserve to be on it or not. You’re on it. Deal with it. What the fuck are you gonna jack this little bit of time off for? So you can go out? Fuck that. Go out when this shit is over. The world isn’t going anywhere. Just chill everyone. You’ll be alright. Take the freedom you got, enjoy it, and be thankful it’s not worse.

Tamara
Reply

Your right…but you cant help but bitch. Jail does suck. i hated it hated it hated it. I was only in 2 nights before I got bailed out. Them bastards never gave me my shoe-strings back!!!! Its just hard not to bitch but I know I shouldnt. Plus I found out that my po isnt as bad as I thought she was. The DA recammended my sentence. Since they did that, since they are the ones who set my house arrest time…will I still have a chance to get off early?
