Howard Stern’s WILD Promotion Campaign

Howard Stern and Sirius are on a PR roller-coaster trying to get the word out that in January Stern will be exclusively on Sirius.

On TV, you’ll see Stern interviewed by Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly and making a cameo on NBC’s Saturday Night Live. In print, you can read major pieces in Newsweek, Esquire and New York magazine.

The article in the Billboard Radio Monitor quotes the New York Magazine saying that XM had been eyeing Stern all along.

XM Satellite Radio CEO Hugh Panero was “prepared to pay Howard close to $30 million a year.” Panero called the price tag on Stern’s $500 million-five year Sirius deal “shocking.”

Bridge Ratings & Research has been tracking interest in subscriptions to satellite radio by listeners of the Howard Stern Show since the fall of 2004, and now the Glendale, California-based ratings and research company has put forth its first round of projected subscribers.

The company has been surveying 3,000 listeners in Stern markets Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Boston, St. Louis, Las Vegas, Syracuse, Baltimore and Detroit to determine their interest in subscribing to the service due to Howard’s January 6 2006 exodus to Sirius.
