Mark Wahlberg Talking About Micky Ward on Conan
The Conan show had Mark Wahlberg on and he was on talking about Micky Ward and the movie he’s doing about Micky’s boxing career and life. Wahlberg talked about how he’s been training for a year now and he really wants to portray Ward in a great and realistic way.
Mark told late night host Conan O’Brien he’s been waking up up at 5:30 in the morning 5 days a week for a year to get in top physical condition for the part. We know that Micky was all ripped and in supreme cardio shape for his fights. Mark’s got some work ahead to compete there.
Apparently, Wahlberg thinks the recent “Rocky” films have looked too staged, so he’s going to be taking some hits to keep it real. he did the same in his movie “Invincible.”
“For me, it’s a dream come true. It’s much like when I did ‘Invincible’; I’d always dreamed of being a football player. For five or six months, to get the pads on and do the whole thing. This is [another] dream come true.”
“‘Irish’ Micky Ward was, in my opinion, one of the greatest champions of all time, and the biggest heart that ever stepped into the ring. I am committed to making him proud, and I know that Brad feels the same way about portraying his brother Dickie. We are going to make it real.”

Ken,
I loved the “Rocky” films and Mark Wahlberg cannot put them down.
I look forward to his own role as Micky Ward.
Is anyone thinking of a boxing film on Mike Tyson?
A film on “Iron” Mike Tyson will be a box office hit anyday.
Cheers and God bless.
