Paula Abdul and Corey Clark alleged sexual affair
In a ballsy move, Paula Abdul, the celebrity judge under fire this week for an alleged sexual affair with an ‘American Idol’ contestant, Corey Clark, appeared on NBC’s Saturday Night Live and laughed at her own depiction in a skit and it was damn funny.
The first skit on SNL portrayed Amy Poehler in Abdul’s part as a lecherous judge with hungry eyes on every male contestant. Finesse Mitchell played Clark’s role as a finalist on the ‘Idol’ show.
Paula Abdul introduced the opening skit by saying, “What you’re about to see is a reenactment of some events of this week’s biggest news story. Now, all the facts have been changed to get laughs at my expense. I hope you enjoy it.”
What came next was a spoof on ABC’s “Primetime Live” which had aired an hour-long segment detailing the Abdul’s alleged trysts with Clark. Clark himself appeared on the show and proceeded to reveal how Abdul approached him and tried to boost his chances of making it to the finals. He was however booted off the show after producers discovered that he had lied about having a criminal record for allegedly beating up his teenage sister.
It is this fact that Paula Abdul’s supporters have used to question Clark’s credibility. Abdul herself has called him “an admitted liar and opportunist.”
Abdul also expressed gratitude for the support of her fans, “All my life, I have been taught to take the high road, and never, never to dignify salacious or false accusations. And I have been taught never, never, to lie. Not only do I never lie, I never respond to lies, no matter how vicious, no matter how hurtful. I do trust my fans to see through attempts at character assassination, and I do trust the essential fairness of the American public,” she said in what was her first comment to the media after the allegations surfaced.
On Saturday Night Live, she appeared her usual suave self and even judged the actors’ efforts. After one contestant paraded his skills, she said, “You have a great voice and a great style, but I think you need to focus on coming over to my hot tub and letting me rub your feet.”
She had special advise for Amy Poehler, “You need to perfect the clap a little more and be a lot more sexier so contestants will be willing to sleep with you,” she said.
