Getting back to my original point, which you missed, what I meant is: Language is pure ideology. You are the chief executive officer of the smut that flows through American veins (I’m American, ironically) “Democratic values,” they call it. But I can see clearly that you don’t understand democracy at all, which is why you’re so amenable to allowing me the space to “spew venom” while highhandedly withdrawing yourself. You sanction this maneuver in the name of tolerance. The philosopher John Stuart Mill believed similarly that, by permitting the most obscene voices to be aired, only then can we understand the dark extremities of human thought. But Mill would rebuke you for your caddy withdrawal here.

If you were an advisor of Martin Luther King or Malcolm X, you probably would have simply told them to pack it up and go home. You’d tell them to ignore the injustices against blacks, because what white folks have to say is smut—a raw, vicious, distorted point of view, but nevertheless “their” point of view. Who cares, you’d say, that whites degrade blacks by using the “N” word, it’s their “right,” and it’s our right to ignore them. “Just go home Dr. King, love your wife and kids,” and leave the world for the ignorant to propigate hate. Why confront them, people will not listen, they will not change. Man, you’re a real ass. I am more convinced now than ever that you’re a product of the American educational system.

I choose to walk away not from my beliefs–which are held very passionately–but from one who refuses to engage in anything resembling reasonable discussion.
