Sergio Mora defeats Jesse Brinkley on the Contender
Seven rounds of heated boxing ended in one unanimous ruling: Sergio Mora defeated Jesse Brinkley. The man known as “the Latin Snake” would advance to the final fight. “I’m going to Las Vegas, Caesar’s Palace: the Mecca of boxing. I’m going to fight for a million dollars,” Sergio celebrated. “Out of sixteen, I’m the one person that’s never had the experience of hanging up my gloves.”
Only one hour separated Jesse and Sergio from their battle. For the moment, they were separated in their respective locker rooms. “Tonight, to beat me, you’ll have to bring your best game,” Jesse said. “I’ve always wanted to fight for something big. And I’m doing that right now.”
“I’m 100% confident that I’m going to beat Jesse Brinkley. I just don’t know how,” Sergio said. Jesse caught a few minutes of relaxation with his children and his girlfriend. Sergio received encouragement from his brothers, and a blessing from his mother. “It’s not just my destiny,” Sergio said in an interview. “It’s my mother’s destiny. It’s my brother’s destiny. It doesn’t matter. Give me whoever, and I’m gonna win.”
Sylvester Stallone and Sugar Ray Leonard came to the empty, silent Loft to keep the final three company. “Guys, in a few hours, you’ll be down to two,” Sugar Ray said. “You should really cherish this moment.” Sly thought some quiet reflection would give the boxers some perspective. “Take a little time, pay a little tribute to your 13 that didn’t make it,” he suggested.
Jesse, Peter and Sergio entered a hall decorated with a series of banners: one for each fighter in the tournament. Jonathan Reid, who had lost to Jesse in the first round. Jeff Fraza, whose time in the tournament was cut short by chicken pox. The late Najai Turpin: “Philly should be proud of him,” Sergio said. Miguel Espino, defeated by Peter upon his return. Brent “the Disciple” Cooper. Tarick “the Arabian Prince” Salmaci.
Jimmy Lange, a devoted family man. Juan de la Rosa, too young to endure the rigors of the tournament. Ishe Smith, conquered by Sergio in the second round. Ahmed Kaddour, who was defeated twice. Joey Gilbert, seen by many as the real player in the Loft. Anthony Bonsante, the #1 Daddy. And, at the end was perhaps the boxer with the most heart: Alfonso Gomez.
One boxer who could not say the same was Jesse, who tended his wounds in the locker room. “I gave it my all. I guess my all wasn’t good enough tonight,” he said. Even his sunny disposition did not go unscathed. “I’m not going home with a million dollars…tough loss,” he said. “I guess you learn, you go on.” Jesse hung up his gloves on the last vacant spot on the wall. After being only one punch away from the final, he walked through the doors of the Contender Gymnasium for the last time.
With only one fight left: Peter vs. Sergio. Two determined fighters will battle for the chance to change their lives forever. “Fate is going to make me win this thing,” Peter promised. Sergio was ready for the challenge. “There’s no way Peter Manfredo is going to beat me,” he said. “I am destined to win this. I am destined for great things.”
After weeks of grueling training, the Gymnasium fell silent. After weeks of thrilling competition, the Arena was empty. After weeks of camaraderie and friendship, the Loft went dark. The last two fighters would fight each other live from Caesar’s Palace for the ultimate prize: one million dollars. Who will be the Contender? Tune in next week to witness a fight for the ages, as the Contender reaches its breathtaking conclusion!

Real boxing fans have no respect for The Contender. 7 Rounds of boxing? Huh? When was the last time you heard of a 7 round fight? Rrrr… never.
In the Gomez fight one commecial break was close to 3 minutes… huh???
Thats not boxing!!! Thats reality TV.
Its too bad that real boxers got caught up in the ratings game on this crap. Sergio Mora and Peter Manfredo Jr are talented athletes, its too bad that NBC got the best of them.

7 round fights happen with amateur boxing, and do you really think that with the time these boxers have to train 12 round fights would be fair. None of these guys have been knocked out so far.
Sergio rocks he is cool, calm collected but I want Peter to win as he beat my favourite it Alfonso it only seems right nothing against Sergio.
Jessie couldn’t cut it n never looked like he would anyway mind games only take you so far, heart and being able to fight miles more important

I think anyone who has slagged off Jessie and Peter must be seriously thick! They were the best fighters and most down to earth lovely guys on the contender. All I can say about Sergio is that he has the wright name ‘The latin snake’ because he is just that, a snake! I was soooo upset when he beat Jessie, but I thought OK so Peter will win the Million, Peter is a great fighter and deserves to win, you can imagine my reaction when that weasel got it! The fight was painful – I could hardly watch!
P.S Jessie is a gorgeous man, intelligent and vvvv sexy!! I love u Jessie!

Peter Manfredo, and Alfonso Gomez were the best in the series. If you can’t see that you are either biased or just don’t know sh*t about boxing. Jesse Brinkley has a great natural talent for boxing, but he seems to lack the guidance of a good trainer. If he gets the right trainer we will surely see alot of him later. The “Latin Worm” is a cocky pr*ck. I didn’t like him one bit. Not as a fighter, or as a person. There was no reason for him to disrespect the Manfredo family like he did. Peter is a truly great guy with a great family. I just hope that he gets to avenge himself in a rematch, but it really wouldn’t matter because Peter has a future in boxing, and I really doubt that we will hear much more from “The Latin Worm”

Everyone of these fighters are good, bu Jesse and Peter are by far my Favorite. Jesse id a great person and has an amazing talent. Saddly I belive that Jesse did not give it his all on hes last to fights. I have seen him fight before and the was not the Jesse I know, I think the fights were set uyp to a certain point. Who knows, maybe he just had a couple of bad fights?? I hope to see more of jesse and petter in the future. Go Y-town….Good luck Jesse!!

Ohhh man i’ve been waiting to find people who are in love with Jesse as much as me! I can’t wait to see hime again. Not only is he HOTT but also a great fighter. I’m telling you if he ever splits up with his girlfriend i’ll be right there! In response to a previous post, how can you put this men down and this show down they obviously are real boxers or they wouldn’t have done that and wouldn’t be so talented. Theres only so much you can do in a half hour. You should just be happy boxers are finally getting recognized

i’d like to say that i knew sergio mora was going to win all the way along, n im not kidding or nything i had this feeling, i seen the way sergio was different from the other guys, they all were pretty good but mora had that gift, inside of him, i think he is gifted and he is destined for many great things.

So, after seeing that fight between Jesse Brinkley and Sergio Mora….I feel like the whole thing was fake!!! There is no way on a bad day and Jesse couldn’t beat Mora easily. I firmly believe that no matter how battered and burised that Brinkley was, there was no reason that he didn’t win. Same with the fight against Gomez…..I mean they were both very close fights, however, they really shouldn’t have been.

Jesse will be fighting Anthony Bosante in the contender rematch October 15th. Mora and Manfrado jnr will also fight, as will Gomez and Fraza.
In response to Kristy’s message – the reason why Jesse was not on top form for the last two fight was because he has to lose to much weight to meet the requirements for the competion, he was dehydrated and lathargic. This is the main reason why the Ishe Smith fight did not happen – he could not come down in weight.

You can email Jesse at jesse@jessebrinkley.com also his website jessebrinkley.com, although the site has some pics of him and his family it doesn’t get updated very often and from my own experiance and what I have heard on other message boards jesse doesn’t read or respond to his emails! His site is managed by his publicity company. He’ll take this fight and anything else Peter Manfredo servers up. Although I agree Peter Manfredo is a tough kid he’s just not as polished as Sergio Mora is.

It is a sad day to see a good fighter gone bad. Saturday night fights with Anthony was a shameful thing to watch. Bosante was the winner that night and you acted shamefully.
Maybe you should think about it and watch the match between the two of you and see for yourself just how bad you looked and what the fans think of you now.
