Sergio Mora defeats Peter Manfredo Jr again
Contender: Season One champion Sergio Mora and Contender: Season One finalist Peter Manfredo Jr picked up where they left off in their championship contest back in May, fighting to an exciting eight-round split decision Saturday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Mora was cut over the left eye in round one and outworked significantly in the punch stats, but did enough to win 77-75 on two cards.
Manfredo was ahead 77-75 on the third card. Fightnews scored it 76-76.
In a Contender: Season One rematch, super middleweight Jesse Brinkley took a controversial five round decision over Anthony Bonsante.
Bonsante, who was stopped by Brinkley in their previous “Contender” fight, outworked Brinkley for most this encounter and the scores of 49-46, 48-47, 48-47 for Brinkley brought boos from the large crowd of approximately 15,000.
Fightnews scored it 49-46 for Bonsante, who later came out of the dressing room and did a “victory lap” amongst the fans.

me and all my friends saw the contender here and we saw sergio kick ass and prove that he IS inface THE CONTENDER. buttt then we saw him lose to the new-and-improved Peter Manfredo Jr. sergio wuz sloppy and plain out lazy in the match inflectin less pain than a mosquito would…wut we’d (me and my friends in india) love to see is one final match between these 2 so we know EXACTLY who deserves the championship..and if mora does somehow manage to beat manfredo again..which i doubt,,the million dollars definitely got to him,,i’d love to see him defend it against superman gomez..u know wut? we’d love to see whoever wins that match to fight superman and see if they can beat him..he’s jus flat out AMAZING right now..

I’m just trying to resolve whether gabby is a male or female. Now that I think of it, at one point, I thought GABBY was an old man, like over 65. Then Gab later said he was 13, but I didn’t buy that. Just watched Against the Ropes with Meg Ryan and found that its all about Karen from the Contender? Got me thinking as to what the hell happened to Mora? Wasnt the whole idea of the show so he could have a shot at the title? As he hasnt had a fight since winning a million bucks, I guess he has quite boxing. Does anyone know? Makes me think that the whole show was a con like most other reality shows. I had my suspicions watching the fights as they seemed to be all staged for maximum drama.

Sergio is full of shit, he didn’t win that fight. Peter won that fight till the end. He went strong till the end. Peter beat his ass….Peter should have knocked Sergio’s ass out when he was talking all that sh*t. Peter stood strong till the end. He won that fight fair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never really like watching boxing until I saw Peter fight, keep going strong Peter, you are the true PRIDE of the Contender…I would love to see Peter fight!!!!
