Sergio Mora will fight Peter Manfredo in the long awaited rematch from The Contender.
The Contender champion Sergio “The Latin Snake†Mora will be defending his Contender belt against rival Peter “The Pride of Providence†Manfredo Jr., whom he last defeated in May 2005. This highly anticipated rematch will take place in Mora’s hometown in Los Angeles at the Staples Center on Saturday, October 15th.
The undercard will feature the exciting match-ups of Alfonso “Superman†Gomez vs. Jeff “The Hell Raza†Fraza, Anthony Bonsante vs. Jesse Brinkley and Jonathan Reid vs. Miguel Espino.
ESPN will air the event live at 8:00PM (PST) / 11:00pm (EST).

It was a boxing match, That does not mean if get a cut your getting beat, like most assume! Sergio clearly out boxed his opponent even as he had to take more of a defensive roll to protect his cut. He is that much better,Faster and skilled. They both have heart. I was a manfredo fan being from the east coast and all but sergio mora won me over.

I think Mora won the second fight by a very slim margin—Manfredo looked much better compared to the first fight, but he still failed to hit Mora with the “big” punch…know what I’m saying?? Mora’s pillow shots had no effect on Manfredo and Mora’s days as a boxer are numbered. He leaves one side of his face wide open…which is why Manfredo’s father kept saying “When you get in close on him, come over the top.” When Mora faces a boxer with a devastating punch, he’s going to drop, big time.

Sergio Mora Won in My eyes Because Peter Manfredo Never lands A crisp Punch he Smothers his opponent and never lands a solid punch hes just PUshing them.. its hard to score a punch like that. On the Other hand Sergio Moras Punches are Very Crisp and Accurate yes he was Little off that fight but he was fighting with one eye..

You made a great point too — there have been dozens of comments directed toward me on this site that were downright hostile and severely nasty and they were not deleted by Mr. Savage. Why? Mr. Savage is not administering his policy fairly. Mr. Savage discriminates against me alone because I’m white, and since he’s white, it naturally follows that all non-white visitors will have the impression that he is not racist himself. Is Mr. Savage consciously aware of this? Gabby, see what I was saying about how racism can be “subtle,” even white against white, black against black, yellow against yellow, etc.?
Mr. Savage has sabotaged this site by interfering with the free exchange of ideas. It’s his site and therefore his perogative. As you can plainly see, however, people have stopped posting comments about Mora-Manfredo. Once again, the wrath of Big Brother wins out.
I recommend to all who are witnessing Mr. Savage’s standards of decency policy being waged here – which is invidious, arbitrary, and irrational – watch the film, “1984,” about people like Mr. Savage who’d take over our minds in a minute if we let them. For readers, I recommend the classic work, “The Communist Manifesto” by Karl Marx and F. Engels, because it sets forth the type of world Mr. Savage aspires to live in, or so it seems.
I am calling on Mr. Savage to reinstate this page and his integrity therein by permitting users to partake in unrestrained dialogue, with the provision that they be mindful of the intention for this forum.

You know what…Don’t be malicious toward anyone else and keep the curse words in check and I have no problem keeping anything people write. When posts are more are derogatory remarks and racial I will delete them.
Mr. Savage, you created a forum whereby people can offer their “opinion” about a boxing rivalry that came out of a prime time reality TV show, The Contender. Whether we like it or not, the viewing audience gives their allegience to one fighter or the other, and race figures into this decision. Moreover, Manfredo is Italian-American and brands trunks with both Italian and American flags and Mora is Mexican-American and brands the “‘Latin’ Snake” and Mexican flag. Race was pre-packaged for viewers by the network in its selection of fighters for the reality TV format of Contender from the get go. The boxing world thrives on the nationalistic, just consider fighters like Andrew Golata (Polish), Klitchko (Russian), Arturo Gatti (Polish). And when Felix Trinidad shows up, so does the whole Puerto Rico! And they’re something romantic about that sentimentality.
So, while the remarks posted in this forum have, as you say, been derogatory, they are no more than ta function of the sleazy, trashy business of boxing, and in this case, the Contender Show, which targeted a younger viewing audience and socioeconomic group that is, by nature, hyper-patriotic.
To expect an audience of purists in this forum, therefore, is delusional.

Hey, Sergio Mora is a true champion, no taking that away from him. He stepped up twice and won both times. He took home the million dollar prize, the man’s got heart. I just don’t know why people on this site have to keep reminding us that he’s Mexican, as if we didn’t all ready know. I mean, if you’re looking for a Mexican hero, why don’t you look at the history of Mexico, men and women who died for your country, than some East L.A. half-assed boxer who will NEVER see a world title, and I repeat, NEVER.
Why? Because if you watched Sergio fight, you’ll notice that he lacks a knockout punch, it’s just not there, and will never be there. You either got it or you don’t. Ken Savage is a racist too. CONSIDER: Would Ken Savage send his son to an all-black or all-Mexican school in the name of diversity? Hell, I admit it; if I had a kid, I wouldn’t send him to those schools either…I’m sending him to a whitey school because I’d be afraid he’d get beaten up by blacks in an all-black school. I suspect that Manfredo is going to fight a bum, so as to rebuild his poor image after getting his ass kicked twice by Mora. Look, Manfredo lacks a killer punch and so does Mora. Mora has some hand speed and agility, but that’s not enough to win the title. Both fighters have light hands and I suspect that in a couple years you’ll never hear of these fighters. I hope Mora has invested his million dollar purse or he’s in BIG BIG trouble. I haven’t seen him on one commercial; I haven’t seen him promoting one product; I haven’t seen his face anywhere besides his own website.
