Tanglewood 2010 Schedule
So I’ve been getting into classical and big band music lately while I’m working or reading at night. I started listening to a few classical stations online and some from Napster. So now I think I might catch what these guys sound like in concert by going to Tanglewood this summer.
Come July 9, 2010 and you will be amazed by the showcase of talents from great classical artists on the 2010 Tanglewood season of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Headed by the Orchestra’s music director, the grand Mr. James Levine himself, you will be lead to a series of wonderful classical music performance all through the month of July. Here is a list of the Tanglewood performers and their performance date:
July 09 – Grand opening at the Tanglewood season led by Dir. James Levine together with the Tanglewood Festival chorus featuring soprano Layla Claire and mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe.
July 10 – Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos leads BSO to perform a Beethoven inspired concert featuring soloist Gerhard Oppitz
July 11 – Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos conducts a program of Mozart and Strauss featuring Pinchas Zukerman in Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5
July 12 – Mr. Levine leads the Tanglewood Orchestra to a classical premiere work by Elliot Carter
July 17 – James Levine leads Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 along with mezzo-soprano Karen Cargill, American Boychoir and the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra.
July 23 – Maestro James Levine and Boston Symphony Orchestra to perform “The Abduction from the Seraglio”. Featured performers include sopranos Ashley Emerson and Lisette Oropesa and bass Morris Robinson.
July 24 – Seiji Ozawa leads the BSO to perform Brahm’s Piano Concerto No.1 featuring soloist Peter Serkin.
July 25 – Seiji Ozawa conducts Ravel’s Daphnis and Chloé
July 30 – Charles Dutoit and young pianist Kirill Gerstein will play Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1
July 31 – Dir. James Levine and the BSO will play Symphony No. 3 , Berg’s Three Pieces for Orhestra and Strauss’s Luminous Four Last Songs.
August 1 – Charles Dutoit in an Elgar Cello Concert featuring Yo-Yo Ma.
August 1 & 4 – Strauss’s Araidne auf Naxos is performed in the Tanglewood Music Center
August 2 – Strauss’s Araidne auf Naxos led by a TMC conducting fellow
August 3 – Tanglewood on Parade featuring the Tanglewood Orchestra, Boston Symphony and Boston Pops performers.
August 6 – Christoph von Dohnányi and BSO perform featuring pianist Richard Goode
August 8 –
August 15 – Stefan Asbury will conduct John Harbison’s “A Full Moon in March” and Oliver Knussen’s “Where the Wild Things Are”.
August 16 – Robert Spano and fellows will lead Copland’s Symphony No. 3 to end the Festival of Contemporary Music.
