M Night Shyamalan New Movie “The Happening” Watch This…
M Night Shyamalan will begin shooting his newest film “The Happening” which is scheduled to be released late Summer of 2008. 20TH Century Fox and India based UTV have recently announced they will be co-producers of M Night Shyamalan’s latest film.
What is the film about? The Happening is being described as a paranoid thriller about a man and his family on the fun from a natural crisis that presents a large scale threat to humanity. Aliens take control of the Earth’s animals and plants in order to take control of the planet. Sounds interesting enough and because of who the director is, I’m sure it will be.
So who will play “the man”? There is nothing set in stone as of right now but sources are stating that Mark Wahlberg is in talks to take the lead role in Shyamalan’s The Happening. He would be playing Elliott Moore, a teacher and struggling musician.
What I found pretty interesting is that M Night Shyamalan was having problems getting anyone to produce this film. Originally titled “The Green Effect“, this film was not being picked up by any of the production studios and the script needed to be rewritten. It seems that M Night Shyamalan took the suggestions he was given about his script and implemented the changes.
I personally can’t wait for The Happening to come out. I am a huge M Night Shyamalan fan. I even enjoyed Lady in the Water… what does that tell you?
Filming for the latest movie by director M. Night Shyamalan, “The Happening,” begins this morning at the “G” Lodge Restaurant, 1371 Valley Forge Road.
According to Alex Apple, assistant location manager, the 20th Century Fox film will mostly be filmed inside the restaurant.
“We will be filming inside the ‘G’ Lodge,” said Apple. “We were here Tuesday morning doing some prep work for today’s shooting. Everyone likes what we’ve been doing so far.”
“We’ll be filming a lot inside the lodge, and some filming outside. We may be screwing up traffic a little bit.”
The Happening is a 2008 film directed by M. Night Shyamalan and stars Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel. Production began in August in Philadelphia. The Happening will be released on Friday, June 13, 2008, purposely planned to fall on Friday the 13th.
Anyone know where The Happening movie is shooting now?

I have not watched any film by M Night Shyamalan and your recommendation has prompted me to get his last film and see how good he is.
God bless.
Erin on Sat, 17th Mar 2007 1:23 pm
Great! Sixth Sense has a really great twist at the end that you won’t see coming. You might want to check that one out as well.
Orikinla Osinachi on Sat, 17th Mar 2007 2:43 pm
I watched the “Sixth Sense” years ago and did not even know who made it.
If he made “Sixth Sense”, then he must be good.
Cheers.

There has been NO SOURCE that has talked about aliens taking over Earthly animals and plants to kill humans. This was purely made up on your part.
Anyways- Shyamalan has already done the alien gig with Signs.
So do your research and cut the speculation.
Erin on Sat, 14th Apr 2007 6:49 pm
Ouch…”themoviefreak” is getting a little snippy with me.
The sad thing is that I did do some research and this is the best I came up with. Guess I don’t match up to your movie expertise.
As for me speculating…I didn’t. Simple as that. If I had speculated I would have wrote that I speculated.
I’m glad you enjoyed my article!

Love Shyamalan’s movies. Each new one seems to be weirder than the last. My friend & I go to all of his opening nights. He is filming part of The Happening at my friend’s cousin’s greenhouse in Parkerford, PA. Wish I could go, but is a closed set.

I actually read a partial of the script somewhere on the web for The Happening but I can’t remember where. It was really good with some unique scenes especially, a restaurant scene in which I really wish I could be cast in as the effected woman.
glory on Thu, 2nd Aug 2007 5:01 pm
shyamalan has great movies like sixth sense and signs, the happening is going to be great! i can’t wait for him to get started on the avatar movie- the show is actually serious and really good. well sue i hope u get your part in the movie…
glory on Fri, 3rd Aug 2007 2:20 pm
hey i read on i think it was variety that in the happening what happens is that mother nature gets sick of our polluting ways and has decided that we must go. An invisible neurotoxin is admitted into the air which causes people to become suicidal and everyone is trying to survive this global crisis. well i don’t know if this is accurate, but that’s what i got.

I hear that they are filming at the G-Lodge Restaurant in Phoenixville, PA on Route 23 on Tuesday 8/21/07 through Thursday 8/23/07. I hope the weather holds up for them. I can’t wait to see the movie next summer. I only wish Mel Gibson was in the movie.
Ian on Wed, 22nd Aug 2007 9:38 am
I saw them filming this morning at the G-Lodge. Lots of activity going on. Didn’t know what was actually being filmed till I googled and found this site. Cool stuff!
Ken Savage on Wed, 22nd Aug 2007 6:33 pm
I’ll pay $20 for each good picture take of the set in Phoenixville, PA or some activity of this movie being shot.
$30 each if you can get a sign of http://www.kensavage.com in the picture too.
Ian on Wed, 22nd Aug 2007 9:35 pm
I’ll get you some pictures Thursday if they are still there when I’m on my way to work.
rachael on Wed, 22nd Aug 2007 10:08 pm
I actually live in Phoenixville a few miles away from the filming site. One of my best friends lives right next door to the G-Lodge and was consulted about the process. I am very interested in seeing this, basically because it ties my little, boring town in with something incrediably cool. Can’t wait!!!
Ian on Thu, 23rd Aug 2007 8:48 am
Hey Ken,
I’ve got 2 decent shots of the set at the G-Lodge/Filbert for you. Where can I send em off?
Ken Savage on Thu, 23rd Aug 2007 9:35 am
Send all pics to ken at kensavage dot com

I love all of M Nights movies, including “Lady in the Water” and espeacially “Unbreakable” M. Night is without a doubt, one of the best guys out there, he seems to be able to reach out to most if not all the generations, my girls love him (19 and 23) my wife and I love him (42 and my wife will kill me if I post her age!) yes, even my dad! (old as a rock!) he deals in fantasy, while keeping it in a possible “real world” that we as humans may have long forgotten, its not impossible people, get in touch with nature, and youll see
Mirandabradshaw on Wed, 21st Nov 2007 5:52 pm

I live right down the street from the G lodge and watched them film, it was really cool. I got to meet mark m. night and zooey, it was so cool! the movie sounds really good, about nature sort of getting revenge. go see it everyone!
Blair on Sat, 8th Dec 2007 9:02 pm
I love all his films, but the village, once you know that the elders are the monsters, it’s hard to feel the threat to the community of the village. I love his directing, but watching that movie a second time was not as believable as the first for that very reason. I’m hoping he gets away from the twist at the end of his new movie, “The Happening.” I’m hoping to see some like ID4 blended with Silence of the Lambs and Close Encounter of the Third Kind with a great story, lots and lots of action and really scarry moments…and not to mentions a great ending.
MINION on Sun, 9th Dec 2007 10:22 pm
I hope he does A GOOD job on this one and hopefuly this time he makes it really scary. Signs could have been really scary but with out surround sound all over it doesn’t make you jump one bit, unless if your like me who is surrounded by corn stalks- lol. I hope he does some drama ending intense like the move THE MIST - which I thought was awesome, and it had that WAR of the WORLDS effect. So cheers if he does good, and a gold if he does a really good job.
GRUDGE is by far the dumbest and none scariest movie I’ve seen besides slither. GEt over yourselves if you thought it was good.

in retrospect, i’m thinking M. Night Shyamalan should have thought about the plot of The Happening before releasing it; the movie lacked his usual flare
