For Those of Us Who are NOT Well Traveled. Try Valium When Flying

I never travel. Let me be real clear about that. Never. The last time I was on vacation was in October of 2000 and that only lasted 3 days due to a series of horrible events. Cursed when it comes to travel? You betcha. But for one reason or another my husband and I have decided to go on a cruise this coming March. I needed some travel tips… it’s been a while.

I searched the keywords travel tips on Google, whoa. I got 128 million matches. The first page was filled with sites that really didn’t want to give me any tips, they wanted me to book my trip with them. But I don’t want to. I just want some travel tips… what to bring on the plane, do I need to bring Excedrin, how many pairs of shoes do I bring? Things like this.

I decided I needed to get a little more specific in my search. I then entered what bring cruise. That’s the ticket. I only got one million nine hundred matches that time. What’s more is the first page was full of great sites giving me tons of info regarding what I would need to bring with me. One site that was particularly helpful was www.wisegeek.com. There were a ton of great suggestions on what to bring, how to make packing easier, etc., etc. Another site that was packed full of suggestions was www.freetraveltips.com. They went into detail about the type of clothing I would need to bring and what type of things to pack in my carry on bag versus my checked baggage. Very useful stuff.

I did notice that none of these sites has touched on the all important “How to properly sedate yourself prior to takeoff”. Fear of flying? You betcha. I have had some really bad experiences when traveling and sadly most of them occurred on the plane. Because of this, I have a pretty big fear of flying. Will I let this stop me? No. So next I search “airplane sedative”… too few and most matches were for children flying. I then tried “valium airplane”. There we go. It looks like people love to share their buzzed out experiences on planes. Nice.

Too bad there is no tips on how to convince my doctor that I need valium. Does anyone out there have any tips on that?
