My Alli diet pill experiment before and after pictureThe FDA has approved Alli diet pill to be sold over the counter as a dieting aid. This is the only FDA approved, over the counter diet pill that prevents your body from absorbing some of the fat calories that you eat. But what about the Alli side effects? The FDA approves this new weight loss pill, but do the Savages?

I recently started to eat a balanced diet, reduce my calorie intake and started going to the gym once again. This is all in an effort to lose weight. Since I have been seeing ads for the Alli diet pill everywhere I decided to check it out and see what all the hoopla is about.

Where to Buy Alli Pills

Cheapest Alli Price on the Web

Alli diet Pill 60 pills
Alli Weight Loss Pills
Orlistat 60mg Capsules
60-Count Starter Pack

I just got back from Brooks Pharmacy where I purchased myself the Alli 60 capsule starter kit for $50.00. A little pricey considering the recommended dose is 3 pills per day making this bottle of Alli 10 days shy of a full month supply. But this starter kit does include a lot of useful information as well as a nifty daily dose carrying case.

How To Take the Alli Pills

By cutting your fat calorie intake and lowering your portion size you usually begin to lose weight anyway. By adding Alli to your weight loss program you will see your weight loss increases by 50%! To me, that’s incredible. In the past, once I have balanced out my diet and started a workout routine I have lost about 2 pounds per week. Now I should be looking at losing 4 pounds per week? Fabulous.

One difference I notice right off the bat between Alli and some of the other well known over the counter weight loss pills is the emphasis that Alli puts on starting a balanced diet, low in fat calories prior to starting the Alli weight loss pill program. GlaxoSmithKline lets it be known that the only way Alli is going to work for you is if you cut your fat intake as well as limit your portion size. That is quite a difference from the usual…”take this wonder pill and automatically lose weight” type of advertising.

Alli Pills Side Effects

So what about the side effects? Well, the packaging states that with Alli the side effects (or “treatment effects as the booklet states) are pretty much up to the user. The only side effects one will see are going to be relating to the digestive system and are directly related to the amount of fat a person ingests.

The side effects include (get ready to cringe) gas with oily spotting…yikes, loose stools, and more frequent stools that may be hard to control…look out! BUT and this is a big but, if you follow the recommended fat intake of not more than 15 grams of fat per meal you are less likely to experience any adverse side effects. No more eating chocolate late at night. Even the sugar free chocolate.

Exactly How Does Alli Work?

The Alli diet pill prevents some of the fat that you ingest from being absorbed. Part of the food that we eat is fat. This fat contains twice the calories of other nutrients. Normally enzymes in the intestines break down the fat from the food so that the body can absorb it. The active ingredient in Alli attaches to some of these enzymes and prevents them from digesting about a quarter of the fat that is eaten. Undigested fat and it’s calories cannot be absorbed and are eliminated from the body.

Above and beyond just the weight loss pill, Alli provides real life information and support which you can access on MyAlli. This website is specifically for users of Alli to get tips and information both from professionals and fellow users. I checked out the message board and there are over 35,000 people signed up as users on this message board. I found this to be pretty impressive since the product hasn’t been around all that long.

No, I am not breastfeeding, and no, I did not ck with my Doctor, because I was pretty certain she would tell me not to even think about taking the pills.

Just curious, has anyone experiences joint or muscle pain when on these pills? Not sure if it is due to the pills, or what, but my body feels beat down since I started taking them. I have forgotten a few days to take vitamins….maybe that is why.

I started a diet in June. From June to mid August I went from 240 to 225. I started Alli mid August, and am now, this is the end of Sept., 209 lbs. I follow the directions, and have had no side effects because I FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS. I do an hour on the elliptical every morning and do 30 min. of Tae Bo at night, and I lift weights for 20-30 min. 3 times a week. I eat 1000 calories a day. I’m a stay at home wife, so weight loss has become my focus, and not working allows me to do this. After I graduated from college, I did work in my trade, which is a nurse, for 5 years. I have seen many men and women lose weight on Xenical the RX version of ALLI. However, all of them followed the directions by dieting and working out. I trust this product, and it is working for me.

@amy - are you breastfeeding? Have you checked with your Dr about taking this right after pregnancy?
