X-Files Sequel: Myth or Reality?

There are some rumblings going on about the possible making of an X-Files sequel. Both Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny (Scully and Molder) have confirmed that there is once again talk about creating the X-Files sequel but that this time the talks are a little more serious and it really looks like the X-Files sequel will be made.

Now here is what I think is pretty cool about the possibility of this movie. It wouldn’t be a continuation of the plot that X-Files: Fight For the Future was based on. The X-Files sequel would be based on a new plot which is totally contained within the length of this film. It would be like getting back to the X-Files roots.

Like many of you X-Files fans out there I was pretty into that show. I still watch re-runs of the X-Files on TNT and the SciFi channel. What I’ve noticed is that I prefer the earlier episodes, the ones where there wasn’t a huge conspiracy involving Cancer Man and Agent Skinner. You know, the ones where they would visit someplace like a freak show or a town where there is a suspected vampire. The ones where there was actually comedy involved along with the science fiction aspect.

So when would this movie be released? Well there is nothing close to a release date floating around out there but there are rumors of The Screen Actors Guild planning a possible strike for 2008 if they cannot work out some issues that are on the table. With that hanging over their head, the would be producers and directors of the X-Files sequel would like to finish shooting the film before the possible strike.

I am pretty excited about the idea of this movie. I will keep you informed of information as it becomes available. Hey…The truth is out there.
