Prior to putting together Danity Kane, “Making the Band” and Combs created the musical acts O-Town and Da Band for the MTV show. The finale of the reality TV series “Making the Band 3” is set to end with Sean “P. Diddy” Combs emceeing a New York concert for the winners. We’ll find out on August 15, when the “Making the Band 3″ act’s self-titled debut album hits stores.
Danity Kane have to face their first real test: Can the Diddy-assembled girl group make the charts? But until then, Aubrey, Aundrea, D. Woods, Dawn and Shannon are spreading the word about their first single, “Show Stopper.”
MTV will tape the finale and its corresponding concert Friday night under the Brooklyn Bridge, where the new group Danity Kane will perform, the New York Post said.
The five young women in the band, all in their early 20s, will reportedly perform four songs from their debut album at the concert on the Brooklyn side of the famed bridge.
Danity Kane as a group doesn’t sound like anyone else on radio right now. Vocally as a collective they don’t sound as strong as P. Diddy’s former girl group Dream but they can carry a tune.
Of the five songs “Right Now,” and “Hold Me Down” stand out above the rest. The five songs on the sampler have a real late 90’s feel to it ala groups 702, Blaque and early Destiny’s Child.
Of course people always look for comparisons when it comes to reviewing new groups. It’s hard to compare Danity Kane to another group because let’s face it there are not many female hip-pop groups on mainstream radio right now. Danity Kane’s debut album is due out later this year so music lover’s can make their own comparison’s when the album drops.
The current season of Making The Band Three is now airing on MTV.
