guacamole recipeDid you ever realize how easy it is to make fresh guacamole? I never did until I tried it using this very easy guacamole recipe. Now, I have fresh guacamole at least once a week.

Ingredients

  • Avocado (3)
  • Red Onion (1 medium)
  • Plum Tomato (3)
  • Jalapeño Pepper (2-3)
  • Cilantro (1 Tbsp)
  • Lime (1 wedge)
  • Salt (1 Tsp)

What To Do With The Ingredients

Since I’m giving you this recipe, I will tell you step by step what I do with the above ingredients. See, I get to do that because it’s my recipe. If you think you would do it differently go right ahead but don’t come crying to me when it takes like poo.

  1. Finely Chop the Red Onion, put into a large bowl
  2. Remove the core of the Plum Tomatoes, throw them away. Chop the remainder of the Tomato and add to the bowl
  3. Slice the Jalapeño Peppers in half, remove the seeds, chop the peppers and add them to the bowl
  4. Slice the Avocados in half, remove pit. Spoon the avocado half from the skin (throw skin away) add avocados to bowl
  5. Using a fork and spoon (makes it easier) mix all of the ingredients that are in the bowl together
  6. Add Salt and Cilantro to the bowl, mix it
  7. Cut a wedge out of the lime (I throw the rest away, but that’s just me) squeeze lime juice from wedge into the bowl, mix

You have just made yourself a nice bowl of guacamole using Erin’s easy guacamole recipe.

Some Helpful Hints

There are a couple of things you should keep in mind while making this guacamole. I have done you the favor of listing some of these things so that you won’t have to experience them first hand to know that you should have done it differently.

  • Keep a paper towel or napkin handy for when the onion fumes make your eyes burn and start to water
  • Keep in mind that Jalapeño peppers are hot and not everybody likes hot stuff to the degree that you may
  • Make sure that none of the Jalapeño seeds get stuck under your fingernails (this will burn even after you remove it)
  • Once you have handled the seeds of the Jalapeño forget about touching your face or eyes until your hands are washed
  • If you are not eating the guacamole right away the best way to keep it looking fresh it to make sure that when you cover it you have plastic wrap right against the top of the guacamole. So even if you are using a plastic container you should put a piece of plastic wrap directly on top of the guacamole before closing the lid of the container. This will keep it from turning brown.

So there you have it, an easy guacamole recipe along with some very helpful tips. You can be like everyone else and enjoy your guacamole as the standard chip and dip scenario you see repeated time and time again or you could think of other ways to eat your guacamole. I happen to like mine in a wrap with some grilled chicken. Let me know of any other ways that you can think of for enjoying your guacamole.
