The FDA has approved Alli diet pill to be sold over the counter as a dieting aid. This is the only FDA approved, over the counter diet pill that prevents your body from absorbing some of the fat calories that you eat. But what about the Alli side effects? The FDA approves this new weight loss pill, but do the Savages?
I recently started to eat a balanced diet, reduce my calorie intake and started going to the gym once again. This is all in an effort to lose weight. Since I have been seeing ads for the Alli diet pill everywhere I decided to check it out and see what all the hoopla is about.

Alli Weight Loss Pills
Orlistat 60mg Capsules
60-Count Starter Pack
I just got back from Brooks Pharmacy where I purchased myself the Alli 60 capsule starter kit for $50.00. A little pricey considering the recommended dose is 3 pills per day making this bottle of Alli 10 days shy of a full month supply. But this starter kit does include a lot of useful information as well as a nifty daily dose carrying case.
How To Take the Alli Pills
By cutting your fat calorie intake and lowering your portion size you usually begin to lose weight anyway. By adding Alli to your weight loss program you will see your weight loss increases by 50%! To me, that’s incredible. In the past, once I have balanced out my diet and started a workout routine I have lost about 2 pounds per week. Now I should be looking at losing 4 pounds per week? Fabulous.
One difference I notice right off the bat between Alli and some of the other well known over the counter weight loss pills is the emphasis that Alli puts on starting a balanced diet, low in fat calories prior to starting the Alli weight loss pill program. GlaxoSmithKline lets it be known that the only way Alli is going to work for you is if you cut your fat intake as well as limit your portion size. That is quite a difference from the usual…”take this wonder pill and automatically lose weight” type of advertising.
Alli Pills Side Effects
So what about the side effects? Well, the packaging states that with Alli the side effects (or “treatment effects as the booklet states) are pretty much up to the user. The only side effects one will see are going to be relating to the digestive system and are directly related to the amount of fat a person ingests.
The side effects include (get ready to cringe) gas with oily spotting…yikes, loose stools, and more frequent stools that may be hard to control…look out! BUT and this is a big but, if you follow the recommended fat intake of not more than 15 grams of fat per meal you are less likely to experience any adverse side effects. No more eating chocolate late at night. Even the sugar free chocolate.
Exactly How Does Alli Work?
The Alli diet pill prevents some of the fat that you ingest from being absorbed. Part of the food that we eat is fat. This fat contains twice the calories of other nutrients. Normally enzymes in the intestines break down the fat from the food so that the body can absorb it. The active ingredient in Alli attaches to some of these enzymes and prevents them from digesting about a quarter of the fat that is eaten. Undigested fat and it’s calories cannot be absorbed and are eliminated from the body.
Above and beyond just the weight loss pill, Alli provides real life information and support which you can access on MyAlli. This website is specifically for users of Alli to get tips and information both from professionals and fellow users. I checked out the message board and there are over 35,000 people signed up as users on this message board. I found this to be pretty impressive since the product hasn’t been around all that long.

Great article. Like you, I know that in order to lose the weight you have to follow the plan. This is for any and ALL diets out there. You have to be dedicated and serious about losing your weight in order for any diet to work. We as americans are so into the instant gratification aspect of everything that we want the latest and greatest “miracle pill”! I have tried a lot of OTC diet pills and which to no ones surprise realied they don’t work. And the reason they dont work is because the plans are too hard to follow. I as a mother of 4 cannot cook “diet food” for me and then a seperate meal for everyone else. This makes the diet fail each and everytime. So hopefully with the Alli plan my whole family can eat less fat and benefit from it the same way as I will. I do plan on trying Alli and I am glad I read your info on this FDA approved diet pill/weightloss plan. Thanks for your input!

How big are the Alli pills ? I can’t swallow those big horse pills like TrimSpa. I did take Phentermine and they were the size of tiny birth control pills so that worked out fine. I lost about 25 lbs in 6 weeks but the bad thing is they wear off after a couple of months and then the weight plus comes back. Hopefully this will work for me !

They’re fairly small capsules and very easy to swallow. I know what you mean about those TrimSpa pills. What was Phentermine like? I hear that’s like legal narcotics. Gives you lots of energy?

It would be a great help to be contacted directly and confidentially on this new over the counter pill.

I have been using ALLI for about six weeks and have lost approximately 14 lbs. I have not had any treatment effects. However, I do not eat any fried food or high fat food. Like some others, the treatment effects are enough to encourage me to eat right. I have not had any cravings. I think because this has worked for me when nothing else did; I don’t want to mess up and I can make lifestyle changes. My only problem is that I can’t seem to eat enough calories. I’m about 40 pounds over weight I can’t seem to get past 900-1000 calories a day.
15
name on Aug 2, 2007 at 3:14 pm:
Sandy if all you’re eating is 900 calories a day you are starving yourself. I’m surprised you’ve actually been able to lose any weight at all. Usually at that point your body will go into starvation mode and horde whatever energy it can.
No one needs this pill. “I have lost 17 lbs in 3 1/2 weeks without changing anything except my eating habits.” How about you just change your eating habits to begin with and you won’t need to spend any money on this pill.
Seriously folks, it doesn’t get any easier then this. If you want to lose weight you need to burn more calories then you eat. Start exercising which will increase your metabolism over the long term by adding lean muscle (muscle burns calories even if you’re just sitting in front of the t.v.) and for gods sake eat right. No fast food. Nothing deep fried.
As for cooking seperate meals for yourself and the rest of your family, how about instead just cooking healthy for everyone? A decent cut of some meat, no more than 6oz. in size, a starch and a small salad works great for dinner.
You have to change your lifestyle, not look for some miracle in a bottle.

Jesus on Aug 8, 2007 at 12:59 pm:
I laugh at people that “rely” on diet pills such as Alli. I can be sure that most of the users of this product are over weight women/men working office jobs sitting in front of the computer all day then going home sitting in front of the t.v. I mean come on, add some verb in your life… Run, Jog, even Walk for gods sake.
For those who say I cant run cause it hurts, I don’t have time, Its too hard… Well wow, so eating all day is so easy huh. Blaming other people and other things for your obesity is madness and its no one’s fault but yours. Get up your lazy butts and do something active rather than opening a candy bar, opening the frig, the microwave, and reaching over the window in the drive-thru cause your too big and lazy to even go inside a fast food joint to order something.
I’m GLAD this pill gives such disgusting con’s. Shitting in your pants, oily discomforts, I mean Jesus. You really want to go through all that to lose weight? If you think about it people, your relying so much that you have to spend $50+ a month or so for more diet pills. What about this… Stop over eating and exercise for a change. Your making this country look so disgusting by walking around eating and eating in restaurants. And you complain and morn about how you have low self esteem and thats why you eat, BS! You have low self esteem and sad all day cause your body is so tired and weak that it affects your mind. Your tired of people looking and making fun of you? RUN! Exercise! Don’t rely on this pill.. Your just making these pharm.companies richer and richer.

What makes you feel better on Aug 24, 2007 at 7:48 pm:
I do think that trying to find the miracle in the pill is not the right thing to do. I eat ok (not absolutely healthy but not outrageous, I dance and I walk at least 3 times a week for an hour). I can maintain my weight but I can’t seem to lose much unless I eat less than 1000 calories a day which is unhealthy.
I tried Alli and lost about 4 pounds in 3 days. Yes I paid $50 for it but the other option was to pay hundreds for a nutritionist or weight watchers to tell me the same things that I already know.
I will continue to use the pill for about a month and if you want to use it to get a start then I say go ahead and give it a try. Just don’t expect it to be a miracle. You have to make some changes.
Some tips:
If you are going to eat a meal with less than 7 grams of fat then don’t take the pill.
Try drinking a diet shake in the morning with a bowl of oatmeal. It is only about 350 calories and will help you to stay full until lunch time.
Don’t eat any meals over 15 grams of fat because that is what could cause the side effects.
Hope this helps.

People.
I have started taking Alli a week and a half ago, i started 235 pound, and now i am about the same. (MAYBE a pound less)
I have been taking 2-3 pills a day, not always had 3 meals.
as for side effects, on the first two-three days I did fell bit “jumpy” in the stomach , but after three days all returned to normal and I feel exactly as
I felt before.
I am not doing any sports, don’t have time for that. And in terms of food, I eat bit less fatty meals.
I bought 90 pills so I will continue for about three more weeks and see how this goes.
Does anyone recommends to move to more pills a day?
(please do not suggest to do sport, I know I won’t)

I really expected so sort of results in 3 weeks. Might be because I am not considered overweight. I have 15lbs I have been struggling with for three years - I thought this pill would help. After I research it, I decided to purchase a bottle. I don’t recommend this product if you are trying to lose less than 20lbs -

I read all of these comments and it makes me sad to see that we have to take pills to make ourselves feel better. I just had a child and I am looking to lose 30lbs at least. I too have a busy life and not a whole lot of time to excercise, but if i can’t make time to do it the healthy way then I don’t deserve it. I finally realized that I am beautiful, thick or not and if more people felt that way, we wouldn’t have so many problems with jumping from diet pill to diet pill, corrupting our bodies.

No - that is what is so great about the Alli diet pill. It only affects your absorption of fat…that is it. It has no affect on your energy or anything like that. You don’t get that speedy side effect from it.
Hope that answers your question.

I’ve been diligently going to the gym for about 6 months now and it wasn’t really helping me lose the 30lb. that I gained after quitting smoking so me and my mom decided to join Weight Watchers and I decided to take Alli too. I’ve lost almost 10lb. in two weeks with the combination of all three of these. I’m not entirely convinced that Alli helped me lose any more than i already would have but I did lose almost twice as much as my mom. After this 150 capsule bottle ($66 at Sams Club) I will most likely not buy another one. I just kind of wanted it for a boost for the first few months. =)

Why would anyone put down people trying to lose weight? As far as the idiot who made comments about people not walking, etc,,, maybe some are disabled and can’t do as much to loose weight, so they need an extra hand, to prevent serious heart and other health issues. I for one do. I am disabled, and can not walk. Don’t call me lazy and all, I have no left leg. Therefore I need that extra helping hand, and plan on trying Alli. I do eat pretty good but being unable to move, even good food can make you gain weight. So, unless you know these people first hand, lets not put them down. Sometimes even talking(typing) how you feel about yourself is the first step to good weight loss therapy. Good luck to you all!

Ok, this pill is ok. The pill is small and the price is huge. The bad if you eat anything with a high fat you will ultimaly end up in the restroom dealing with diarreha. In short, if you can handled controlled or uncontrolled diareeha then it’s not bad. You are almost forced to eat healthy other you will pay the price with having to constantly run to the restroom. Do not recommend on any long trips or if you have job that allow you to be away for long or constant periods of time. I lost weight but the hassle of constantly going to the restroom isn’t worth it for me. I realize people who have to constantly battle with weight this would be great. Thanks.

Ok, people, lets not act surprised if you eat a cheeseburger and have side effects. The idea is you can screw up a little and the pill will have your back. Seriously, though, I have changed my eating and started religiously going to the gym for a heavy cardio workout every day. I had a bottle of these in my kitchen that I had stopped taking, deciding they were a waste because I had no effects at all. After I got into my new “habit” I should call it, I decided I deserved a little help, if it was possible. I started taking them again and I think they are working now. I do not weigh myself because I do not want to get discourageed, but I can guarantee you I am losing. My shorts are fitting so loose that I think they look bad. This has only taken about 2-3 weeks. I am probably 40-50 pounds overweight. I think these are a nice add in to a healthier lifestyle. I also understand that working out is not an option for everyone, but I am not so sure that these will make much difference if you cannot combine with excerise(which speeds the metabolism anyway). Oh Heavens, I understand that you have an obvious reason for not working out, but I just don’t know that this pill will help you that much if you can’t. I certainly wouldn’t judge someone for trying, but I think your money might be better spent with a nutritionist or even a meal plan, because calorie control is probably going to be the big X factor for you. Again, I just say this because I noticed nothing until I made a slight change in my diet(cut out drinking and snacking) and made a HUGE change in my excercise schedule. Good luck to everyone trying to lose. You can do it, but your biggest help will be your willpower:)

I’m thinking about purchasing Alli this weekend. I’m a bit puzzled though with our health care system. I had scheduled a doctor appt with my doctor to see if there was medical help out there for weight loss. I called our medical carrier here at work this morning to find out my health care coverage has no help for Obese Adults. They do if you’re Severely Obese. They’ll pay for gastric bypass or the lap band but won’t offer any help for adults who need to lose less than 100lbs. What the heck is up with that? So here I go for the 100th time trying to lose 70 lbs. on my own. I have tried every diet out there, plus joined the YMCA (Twice) but nothing has helped. It looks like the 99 lbs or less to lose individuals are on their own. So if you have lost weight and gained your self-esteem back please post your comments. Help those that are trying to find their way back to a healthy weight.

It’s unhealthy, and not possible to lose more than 2 lbs of actual body fat per week. Anything more is water weight, which is normal in the beginning of any weight loss plan. Losing weight any faster will only result in re-gains. It’s best to lose gradually, while building new eating habits. This way, you are way more likely to keep the lbs off.
Not eating is a metabolism killer too. So, eat smart foods 5-6 times a day, in controlled portions. Diet by definition is not a lack of food, but a way of eating. It’s a lifestyle change, not a quick fix that is going to do it for you all.
Please seek the help of a nutritionist, doctor, or personal trainer for real life changing results. At the very least, get more educated about eating right and exercise. It’s the only true way to lose lbs. Good luck to everyone out there!

Tranise on Nov 28, 2007 at 7:28 pm:
I started a diet plan the first of April eating very low carb foods cutting out the sodas drinking only water and sometimes diet sodas, also I went to the gym 4-5 times a week for about an hour in a half. I did 1 hour of cardio, ( running 3-4 miles, then the bike or stair machine for 30 minutes) then light weight lifting for about 30 minutes a day for 3 times a week. I started out by weighing 168 pounds and by the Middle of May I was 146 so I lost about 22 pounds in 6 weeks, it was a big sacrifice but it was worth it. Any way after about 10 weeks I stopped losing weight, I couldn’t for the life of me get under 144, so I just gave up and went back to my old eating habits which resulted in me gaining back 12 pounds, so I want to lose about another 20-25 pounds and I am thinking about getting the pills to help me. I am working another job now that requires I work very long hours. So my eating habits have changed. I can commit to make time for the gym, about an hour 4-5 times a week, but I am going to buy the pills to assist me with my eating habits because when I am stressed I tend to eat a lot of the wrong types of foods to make me feel better, and I also like to run when I am stressed, I think I am in a catch 22. LOL Does anyone have any advice to give me if I just all of a sudden stop losing weight again, while following the diet? Should I eat less or excercise less. I am a pretty solid person and most of my weight is on the lower part of my body. My doctor told me that my fat was turning into muscle, and maybe I should lay off the excercising from an hour to 30 minutes and that muscle weighs more than fat, he said that I will find myself losing more inches and to keep eating low fat foods, but not to excercise too much because of my body type. But I don’t want to take his advice because he is soooooooo fat. LOL anyways good luck to all. Remember drinking lots of water helps too.

lance on Nov 29, 2007 at 12:55 am:
Tranise, It is very common to hit a plateau in exercise. You must introduce the body to new challenges often. If you were doing machines, for example, switch to dumbells for a while. Mix it up about every 4 weeks. The body simply gets used to what you are doing to it. You can get many ideas for specific exercises at shapefit.com. There’s even little videos to show the proper form/technique. As far as the cardio goes, it is true that too much can be bad, but fat cannot turn into muscle, only replace it. Keep in mind that the legs have more muscle than any other body part (quadricep) and are usually the strongest. Now, doing too much cardio can actually cause the body to use muscle for energy, and break down muscle to be used as such. This is why you rarely see body builders doing cardio. Dont stop the cardio, but shoot for 5 sessions per week, at 30-45 minutes. I would lay off the stair machine, as that is the one that can build lots of leg muscle. Choose the treadmill, or eliptical which is better on the knees anyway. I personally try to get a lot of cardio while working the weights. Circuit training is very effective at burning the most calories, cardio (heart health), and saving time. The idea is to rest very little in between sets, so the heart rate stays up, therefore getting good cardio. Do some research on circuit training, so you know what exercises to do, and how many of each, but I would suggest doing this for 4-5 weeks, along with some additional cardio. Then, switch it up to another style or program, and so on, from now on. It’s a way of life, for ever. It’s the only way to have the success we all want. As far as diet goes, don’t eat less! Less just kills the motabilism. Try to eat 5-6 times a day, all healthy if possible. If you haven’t noticed, I am against any pill out there. The truth is, that they all say ‘along with proper diet and exercise’. Well, with a little knowledge, and a little more discipline, we all can change how our bodies burn fat and build muscle. It’a a matter of re-teaching our body how to burn more efficiently - proper motabolising. OK, I’ll wrap this up…. save your money and change your lifestyle. Get a womens health magazine, and maybe talk to a trainer. Hire one for just a few sessions if you cannot afford one long term. You will learn a ton! Also, a good book thats easy to follow - ‘The 5 Factor Diet’. It really works! Good luck!

One more thing for Tranise, check your heart rate while on the cardio. Many people don’t realize that different training zones ( ie, a % of the target heart rate for your age) have different effects on the body while doing cardio. A lower heart rate (65 % of maximum) actually burns more fat, while a higher rate (80 %) has more effect on heart health. Both good, but I would suggest to you a lower rate. Or, at the least, go back and forth if you need the speed (interval training).
Thanks for listening!

I have been on phenterimine off and on for 3 years, It worked great for about 6 months and I was at a normal weight for myself of 125 with only being 5″1-then 5 months ago I was put on Cymbalta an antidepressant and also birthcontrol to help with my terrible moodswings and cramping bad only when I ovulated, this sucks at age 37, and know my weight is 150 pounds and I feel so bad. phenterimine only gives me energy at this point, I would like to try ALLI but my doctor says no, but I do not know If it would interfere with my antidepressants or not. I just needed to try sosmething different to get this weight back off. I work at home all day, at least I would be near the bathroom.

To All: I’ve read most of the comments and I can relate to quite a few people on here. But as most of you put it, the bottle does say, “with proper exercise and diet”. I lost 25lbs in two months one yr ago this past summer. I did so just by changing what I ate and going to the gym five days a week. I was able to keep up my workout routine until this past Jan.(’07). Then, I started to work out again this past summer and again had to stop for the fall. I’m a college student and my schedule didn’t allow me the free time I once had to work out. I haven’t worked out since June! It is Nov. and I’m JUST NOW starting to put back on a few of the pounds I lost! So what I’m saying is that working out and changing your eating habits is what you have to do, especially for long term results. The weight stays off and for longer periods of time. Of course some of us have medical conditions or genetic predispositions that will only allow us to lose so much weight. But for those of us who are blessed enough to use our bodies for physical activity don’t need a diet pill. They really are NOT LONG TERM solutions. You’d have to keep taking them for the rest of your life to maintain your weight. Your MIND and your WILL have to be intune and ready for discipline and change. I’m saying this b/c I thought I about buying Alli up until I read Lance’s last post(2nd to last). He/she made me re-realize that I’ve already put in the work. I just need to find the time to keep going! We all just want to be happy, healthy, look good and feel great. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Just do your research and consult a doctor or nutritionist if you can. They may have better workout plans and eating suggestions that work best for your genetics. The info is out there. I wish you all the best!

I’ve been taking Alli for 6 weeks and have had good results. I’ve gone from 216 to 198. At first, I weighed myself constantly and would be disappointed. But I think a lot of the weight fluctuation was muscle gained. I had a baby 7 months ago and have been struggling to take off the baby weight, and the weight I’ve gained while in college.
Here is my disclaimer: You really do have to eat healthier and exercise. I started making a conscious effort 4 months ago. I went out and bought a set of cheap Tupperware so I could easily store my cut up veggies for salad. I buy bags of frozen chicken for salad, to put in tomato sauces with whole grain pasta (with veggies of course). I keep easy to eat/prepare fruits on hand. I had to work at make eating healthy easier since the convenience of fast foods has helped get me to where I am. I also started exercising. Walking, some cardio, some weights, nothing I have to do in a gym. I was already working on my diet and exercise when I started alli. I was frustrated that I wasn’t seeing any real results. I have know been on Alli for a couple of months, I have had no bad side effects at all,but my weight has stayed the same if even I have gained 2 pounds, I still am wondering if it is the Cymbalta or the birth control pills. I do not know what to do anymore but starve myself ha/ha. I wish anyone could suggest something, because my doctor isn’t.
55
MS on Dec 14, 2007 at 2:13 pm:
Teresa-
Have you signed up on alli website? There are people who can help you understand why it isn’t working. I suspect starving yourself is part of the problem. You can’t eat too little fat or you won’t lose any. Don’t over due exercise or you’ll break down muscle, not fat.
Who knows, maybe the alli is counteracting the weight you would’ve gained by being on cymbalta and bc, and that’s why the scale isn’t budging.

(continued) I started taking alli to help my progress. I am easily discouraged when I am trying to lose weight, so any extra help keeps me going. I am happy how things are going. I am confident I can keep up my lifestyle changes even after I go off it.
As for TEs, I’ve only had one incident, I was at home and I had eaten a piece of apple cake that was made with oil. No real biggie though. Generally, I can be constipated, so alli has actually made things better. My suggestion is to take extra fiber if you have any problems.

Alysia on Dec 27, 2007 at 4:37 am:
I do not recommend using this pill. Some women found that when taking Alli, it was hard to control bowel movements. Also, to increase your weight loss by %50, you would approximatley lose 3 pounds per week, as %50 of 2 pounds is 1 pound.

I can not get in to see my Doctor until Wednesday, as I continue to gain weight and begining to get very depressed because of it, so for now I am not taking any diet product I give up for now or at least today. Different bodies can do different things, mine is always been opposite of what they say or do.

just save your time and money…..great diet and regular exercise are way better! it says to do that along w/ the pills anyway…. These miracle pills do not work for long term weight loss!

Laura on Jan 6, 2008 at 9:42 pm:
Rose, I asked my pharmacist and he said not to mix any other diet pills with Alli.
I took Alli for about a month before I couldn’t stand holding my gas in fear that it was liquid. I couldn’t stand going to the bathroom because of the awful smell. Kind of medicine-y/metallic-ish. If I screwed up one day, it would be like that for 3. I never actually had an accident, but it was a mess in the bathroom. It was like pure oil and got everywhere. x.x I’m not losing weight as fast, but I’m just doing weight watchers and exercise now!I wasn’t looking for a “miracle pill” anyhow, just something to give me a boost. The side effects weren’t worth it for me. I don’t like living in fear

I would say Alli would be enough be itself.
Try it for a while and be sure to record you progress and food consumption.

you can’t really expect to loose weight from just taking a pill do you? You have to follow a low fat diet and exercise too.

I have been on Alli for 2 days, almost 3. I had started eating low cal, low fat almost 2 weeks before purchasing the Alli. I’ve been very lucky, I have had NO treatment effects. But I have stayed within the 15 fat grams per meal. I’m not able to supply any weight loss details since I’ve only been using the pill a couple of days. I started at 158lbs and I am 5′ 3″. I decided to use the Alli because it helps you lose MORE weight then just with diet and exercise alone(and I barely exercise). If I can lose 10lbs its nice to know that my 10lbs could = 15lbs lost(with help from Alli). Which will give me motivation to eat right and not give up. I will keep you posted as to my progress.

Eric on Jan 24, 2008 at 1:42 am:
I’d have to say that alli works very well
I tried it from July through September 2007. With both the alli and a sensible diet/exercise plan, I went from 320 lbs to 285 lbs. Unfortunately, I got off the bandwagon after catching bronchitis, probably from being a TA in a large lecture hall and tutor room. Sure, I got over the bronchitis quickly…but haven’t really gotten back on the bandwagon until now. I’m starting up again, trying to keep my diet straight and trying to make it to the gym, while faithfully taking alli - my ally in weight loss
As for the side effects, I personally don’t find them too bad to deal with, even after eating a big burger at Burger King. (Yeah, I do cheat at times.) The worst I’ve experienced is pooping out some oil with my regular stool…and it is hard to clean with toilet paper alone. I’ll admit that. But it comes out good enough to deal with, and it’s not too much of a problem.
So really, I think of alli as a way to productively lose weight when I’m on board with the plan and insurance against those times that I may get off board for some reason or another (try to eat out when you’re really hungry, anyone? it’s hard to get full on the health food menu items!).

no, these pills don’t effect your sleeping at night. I take 3 a day, and sleep like a baby

Lisa on Feb 2, 2008 at 12:14 am:
Alli is NOT available in Canada…..however, if you read my last post….you can order it online easily enough. We pay a bit more for the shipping out here to Canada…but it only took 2.5 days to get to my door. I’m on day 2 and have lost 2 lbs…not too shabby so far and no treatment effects…but I never would have 15 grams of fat in any given meal anyways. I also think the key is working out….I re-started going to the gym and I think this accellerates the pills effectiveness. So far so good.

I am confused about your comment. First of all, why are you so angry? You act as if the people taking Alli are hurting you personally. I thought this website was to speak about Alli and for both support and answers about Alli. I wonder why you are in this website. Are you just trying to make others feel as bad as you do? I do not make excuses for why I need a little extra help. I do workout but I still need help with my eating habits. Not everyone can be as great as you are in that category. But I know for sure I am better in the personality and compassion category than you are. Anyone who has to use that kind of language to get their point across needs to grow up and act like an adult.

You are in the same boat I am in I have my degree in nutrition work out 5-6 days a week, cardio and strength training and have 10 pounds I have been struggling with. I know the laws of thermodynamics but I tend to eat good and then get in a mood not to and there is my pit fall depressing enough the calories in must be higher than the calories out but I can’t work out more and eating different seems impossible. And I do eat really good the majority of the time. Let me know if you find anything. The Body for Life book is a great regime if you are committed.

I tried the prescription version here in canada for a year.I did not lose much weight maybe 5 pounds, which was very disappointing. It did not work for me. the side effects were too great for my life.the fact that you fart grease spots and never know whats going to happen when you go to the bathroom was too much for me.I did and do not eat alot of grease so that should have never been an issue.Im sorry if this is not what some people want to hear but i wanted to let you know about my experiencess with alli.

I most certainly believe in what you are saying….I think most people know this but doing it is the problem!! I don’t believe in fad diets and taking pills to lose weight. I thought about taking the alli pill, but I don’t think I am going to even bother.
I am just going to work hard at making lifestyle changes. Everyone has to understand that you have to make the changes for life!!!! I will succeed at this!!

Paula on Feb 26, 2008 at 3:53 pm:
Whatever!!! I have had a weight issue all my life for the most part. No, I don’t eat like a pig. I do tend to watch out for fatty fried foods, etc… No, I am not as active as I should be, but I am most certainly working on that!!!! I don’t believe in all the fad diets and the diet pills. Yeah you are probably one who doesn’t have such a weight issue, but you don’t know what others are going through and what their real problems are… You shouldn’t write such rude harsh comments like you did. You have to understand that others are emotional and who are you to criticize the overweight people… Everyone’s body is different!!!! I have a son that is just about nothing but skin and bones. He eats me out of the house!! Yes, he is also very active and I believe that he naturally has a high metabolism too….You certainly can’t speak for others!!!!

Paula on Feb 26, 2008 at 3:58 pm:
Thank you Oh heavens I felt that same way about that comment!!!!!! That is just friggin ridiculous! All I have to say is that someone needs to probably take a look in the mirror or something. I am sure they have something they need to work on…..

Toni Pacini on Feb 27, 2008 at 7:18 pm:
I bought a 90-Cap starter pack of Alli 2-hours ago and I already want a refund. Part of the reason I went with Alli was to have the online support. So, I came home from Rite Aid and took my first Alli cap with my lite lunch and started reading the introductory information. When advised to do so I went on line to http://www.myalli.com and proceeded to register. In the process I was informed that I would be able at a later point to OPT-OUT of anything I wished. Once I put in my code number (from the booklet I just purchased) I clicked on the link to read the privacy statement. Under the section on “Cookies” it said, “If you want to disable GSK’s (Glaxo Smith Kline) ability to track your website interactions, you can opt-out of GSK’s third party tracking software by visiting. http:/omniture.com/privacy/optout.html
NOPE…The link did not work, it gave me options to go to other Omniture sites and I did, got a phone number, and called. They guy I spoke with had me do a two number+2digit.com thing and it did get me to a site that said I could opt out by clicking on “opt-out.” NOPE, didn’t work, site having problems, yada, yada. So I called customer care at Glaxo-Smith-Kline. They wouldn’t help, so I asked for a refund but they said I would have to talk to TECH SUPPORT first at 877-469-2554. I called but they didn’t answer tech support, just Alli. I insisted they refund my money, if I cannot have on-line support I would not have bought the pills. The gal said, well we can just mail you the info. I DON’T WANT SNAIL MAIL, I THOUGHT HAVING ONLINE SUPPORT WOULD BE A POSITIVE DAILY REINFORCEMENT. The registration site needs to allow the consumer to opt-in to the services and support she wants and out of the other. I used stress as an excuse to over eat, now my new diet plan is nothing but more stress. I think I am better on my own. I am ready and serious, I just wanted a little support, but they can stick it. I THINK I AM MY OWN BEST ALLI.

I think it’s wonderful people are finding a way to lose weight. I think people who are putting them down are just jealous. After all, is it your $50 you arespending? alli was never considered a miracle pill. I’m pretty sure GSK made that pretty clear. My mother lost 80 pounds on alli last year and stopped taking it in November of 2007. She has maintained a low fat diet because alli doesn’t tell you how to eat, it teaches you how to eat. She hasn’t gained a pound back. In fact she just lost 5 more pounds last month.
Not everyone who is overweight is lazy. That’s the most uneducated comment anyone could ever say. You don’t know someone’s situation. Anyway, good luck to everyone out there!
